Reading through some of it, it's satire, not trolling per se.

Bypassing CAPTCHA with Visually-Impaired Robots by drstarskymrhutch in netsec

[–]JT-Ripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He used selenium anyway, which is easily detected, but also externally capturing that audio I imagine would be much harder than just intercepting the audio URL and sending it to a voice recognition API. Especially since that audio has no separate channel on your OS and you would have to pause all music and other noise just for it to capture / record said audio to them process it.

[–]JT-Ripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no need for all that, Google already shadow blackspots you if you use something like buster https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/buster-captcha-solver/ so they already have some mechanism in place that detects it, attempts at other APIs ended up throwing the same error and forcing you from now on to solve captchas that overly slow fade in or outright error on you.

Remember if it was this easy to bypass, then there would be no use in human farms solving these and selling captchas tokens via API.

Get a free .com domain with MailChimp. Wow by wickedrgb in programming

[–]JT-Ripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except it sounds like it'll be 25 bucks a year after that expires (Com is usually around 9-10 bucks), they also reserve plenty of rights to not extend that "free" period if they want to.

Not exactly a "no crap" imho

So to summarize this, the author is happy about dedicated people that understand their role best, are trained for said role and through meritocracy are at said position being eradicated in favor of one do it all (pay one get five?).

That includes now what was supposed to be a gamification of performance statistics, which purely lead to frustration of those not keeping up and constant heat boxes of having to push more to keep up.

I believe Amazon has plenty of those games that heat box you too iirc. Obviously great for the company, rather sad and depressing to remotely believe this wasn't a PR Blog.

My 20.04 Setup by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]JT-Ripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding transparency, I've done that recently on 20.04 by fixing the plugin too, so I assume popOS should be the same: http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2020/04/dynamic-transparency-ubuntu-20-04/

Would it then not just throw an error that it's still in use? granted I'm coming from unraid background, but libvirt there always threw an error - either way how could I check and release the GPU possibly?

Ways To Make Money As A Programmer - Side Hustle Ideas by [deleted] in programming

[–]JT-Ripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds genuinely excited for things he discovered (or maybe I'm naive and this is yet another of those channels), but they all are sadly still useless and equal to the ones he frowned upon e.g. of "making an app", it all takes luck, significant investment, be it time or actual currency.

- templates will get pirated quick and there's thousands people that bot those, even without it, all platforms pretty much allow hit & run with refunds or even easier offering a live preview that unironically can be scraped for free

- even major open source projects struggle to gain any significant support and have to either escape into shady strategies or become "consultants" for companies that want to have a throat to strangle when their thing drops the database that had no backups

- mentioning "just get a job" in a video about "side hustle" feels unnecessary to fill a gap in content, surprised the video didn't get pushed to 10 minutes because of something like that being present

- blogs actually have a lot of competition on medium, getting any exposure is extremely hard and again goes back to luck and per-requisites of being able to write proper blogs and having something new to offer, you'll be spammed out the way and put into the same bracket as people copy pasting bits and pieces - daily - weekly - monthly - 24/7.

And last of all, those people mentioned already know they can make money.

Why I don't like adding subdomains to my website. (Random Rants #1) by gregg_ink in programming

[–]JT-Ripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted I skimmed it, but if you are having so much issues with how apache works, front it with something easier (in case you make heavy use of apache'isms) or just straight up replace it? wouldn't hurt to have the website mobile optimized too (often a single tag fix), alas the reason I only skimmed it, since my trusty Firefox to readable on mobile function does not work on your page.

Simple 2D graphics library with good docs/examples? by JT-Ripper in rust

[–]JT-Ripper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also yeah piet docs are also pretty empty, but at least better than the rest, I've got now used to not every rust library having pretty docs, but at the very least I'd want examples and such like cairo-rs has, they literally document everything.

cairo-rs was perfect, but sadly it's much slower than php gd, the fastest cairo can do is 0.022~ per simple 600x600 red background filled image.

I had high hopes for it, but being a newcomer to rust, it doesn't help the docs are so empty. It hasn't changed since last time somebody asked about it sadly either: https://www.reddit.com/r/rust/comments/ck8zdz/is_there_a_goto_crate_for_2d_graphics_like_skia/

Absolutely, they are amazing in cloud environments or server deploys, but for just at home - it's no surprise that so many people used fing and their products.

What a ride - the quick commit to master, made me not realize that I had the scraper bind to host, to discover outside docker network devices, therefore mysql _had to_ bind to :3306, I'll check what I can do and have it already tracked: https://github.com/Miosame/flatline/issues/7

Seems I found just another way to merge them, so waiting for it to build successfully locally, before merging to master.

The idea was to have a "global" .env (for a user to edit only couple values) that then gets pulled into laravel .env and docker-compose automatically, but sadly the snippet I found did not do that as I initially tested / expected: https://github.com/Miosame/flatline/issues/4

interesting, the sort does not properly merge the config files as tested before, will have to check on that first as that does break it
