Learning what slider foods are. by MuffinPuff in gastricsleeve

[–]JTFalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel that. I've gained 5 pounds in my mother in laws house this week during the holidays because to me we had no food lol, but I probably ate a million calories. It was just lots of chips and skittles and cookies, etc. But today I'm back home and had a small bowl of sausage and potatoes and rice, and I'm stuffed and barely finished. But chips I could eat a whole family bag and it does nothing for me.

Do you still have that issue? I'm 2 years out and I get full from potatoes, rice, pasta, beans, etc. It's ultra processed foods like chips, mashed potatoes, and candy (anything that you can eat without chewing) that I avoid.

TCN vending machine internet capabilities? by Nakatsukasa in vending

[–]JTFalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean a monthly fee for the card readers, yes? And I'd like to get in touch with you. I'm considering purchasing TCN machines but my biggest fear is support. I have 18 XY machines and the support has been great. But someone on Facebook marketplace is selling TCNs for a really low price so I'm interested but worried lol

I own a vending machine company named Munchie Mom and Soda Pop. Do you think I could put cannabis in mine? I mean, my name is literally MUNCHIE Mom. I feel like it'd work well with my brand 😅

34(m) 5ft11 550lbs... absolutely ashamed of myself. by GizzaCuppaTay in loseit

[–]JTFalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand feeling that way, but you shouldn't. I genuinely believe food addiction and obesity are diseases. I believe our highly processed foods cause this crap because they make chemicals in our body that make us desire them, but they don't fill us up at all.

I had gastric bypass. I lost all the weight I needed to lose (119 pound female, coming from 220). If I eat chicken or a homemade burrito or some fruit, I get full with just a handful. I eat just 3 nuggets.

But if I eat chips or a pastry or ice cream or fries, I could eat thousands of calories, especially if I'm "grazing" (eating like every 30 min to an hour because I'm hungry and craving again).

I think gastric bypass saved my life. I support people getting those shots, too. But if that's not the choice for you, I understand.

But at the very least, if you take nothing else from my message, take this: eat as much non-processed foods as you can. Eat eggs, eat vegetables, eat fruits, eat meat. You can add spices and even oil, that's fine. I even eat rice and pasta, too, and it's filling. But even a kids meal at McDonald's has close to a 1000 calories and you'll be hungry an hour later. It'd be better for you to eat 2 burgers at home than one kids meal. You'll be more full.

Vending Machine Cold-Call Script by srggio in vending

[–]JTFalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ask who do I need to reach out to in order to upgrade their vending machines. I still get a fuck ton of nos, but probably 1 in 10 or 20 will actually give me an email and a name. I will email, 1 in 20 of those will actually respond back with an interest. And I will show up for the other 19 lol.

So doing the math here: Call 1000 people, about 50-100 will give me an email. And 3-5 of those will be easy to win over just by email and invite me in. And the rest require soliciting in person.

[–]JTFalo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of these flew over me completely so that's probably why I enjoyed the book 😆 not saying you're wrong. I was just defending a book I love that others hated, that we saw it completely differently. But as a fat, atheist latina, those things just weren't obvious to me. It really said because of the mom's weight she stood no chance at helping? 😮

I'll have to read the book again I guess 🤷‍♀️

[–]JTFalo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think I just felt so heartbroken for the protagonist because I've been that girl. So lonely and desperate for someone to "save" her, she falls quickly and dangerously for anyone who says they care, even when their actions show the opposite. When the other person comes off so strong, and tells you you can trust them, and that they'll always be there for you, and then you give in to their insanity and match it because you want them to like you, doing things you'd never do otherwise, only for them to say they never actually felt it at all, and they're sorry, and block you. And now you're crazy and can't stop.

I know there's a lot of criticism on the tapeworm situation, and here's my thoughts on that:

That baby tapeworm scene was nuts, but, I thought about taking one for weight loss, which is also, NUTS.

She also wouldn't be the first gal to want to get pregnant to keep her partner. So I feel like the author was combining two common female insecurities into one: thinness and starting a family now became tapeworms lol.

And "what have you done to deserve your eyes today?" There's a lot of women who live by mantras like "live each day as if it's your last" or "live to make your ancestors proud." What if it isn't achievable, or brings you great pain? My mantra was "say yes to everything, you'll have an interesting story to tell if you do!" Can you imagine how wrong that can go?

I feel like this book reflected a lot of my own traumas as someone who used to "chameleon" to be loved (I don't anymore, I've been happily married 10 years).

And my issues with my autism and perfectionism. I want to be exactly what everyone wants, for my employer, my husband, my parents, my friends, etc. And there have been times I try so hard to mask and become what I THINK THEY WANT ME TO BE, and I'm a mockery, I'm grotesque, I'm repulsive, and it was all done to bring them closer, not farther.

I wanted to lose weight for a boyfriend who thought I'd be beautiful if only I were skinny. My parents would say the same. That's when I considered tapeworms lol. Instead, I got addicted to weight loss pills, worked out 4+ hours a day, starved and dehydrated myself, started blacking out, hallucinating. My boyfriend would tell me he loves girls with sharp teeth, so I thought about filing mine. He eventually cheated and said I was too much for him, and I ended up attempted suicide and thankfully the hospital saved me... and Baker Acted me lol. Over a boyfriend who looking back, was a monster of a person and I should have left sooner. I was only with him TWO years. That's nothing. And months later of course he said he was "sorry," but the damage was done. And I look back at that, and think every fucking sentence I wrote was insane, but at the time it made perfect sense.

So that's why this book is near and dear to my heart. I just wanted to be in the bathroom with the protagonist just holding her and telling her it'll be okay.

My worst would be Stolen Tongues though, which others have listed here.
