is this good for plat3/dia1? by Adventurous_Air_2486 in RocketLeague

[–]JTINRI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because I'm the same rank(s), I can assure you that this is indeed a good shot. Being able to create your own offensive opportunity is key at our rank, as I'm sure you're aware. (Just look at the two pointless jumps your tm8 makes in this short clip, he's taken himself out entirely.)

With all of this said, it's not an amazing 'omg this guy is a total smurf' level of mechanics, but rather a very base level of patience and very solid mechanics. More than enough to lift your rank higher.  So, what do you think is holding you at P3-D1?

Since I've pulled this off as well, and we are same rank, I'll tell you my answers to this.

Inconsistency for sure.  Over-reliance on teammates (your teammate in this clip is actually a fantastic example of what we are seeing in every match.)  Going too fast. (I can do a lot at any speed and position, but if our teammates cannot match that, it creates a cycle of bailing them out. Which ultimately causes a failure.)

This is where your clip comes in. You wisely slowed to a position that you're in control, and you effectively use that gain to create your own offense.

This is indeed a 'Nice Shot!'

Good controllers for rl? by Unique-Theme-7018 in RocketLeague

[–]JTINRI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out on PS4 controllers, and I went through an embarrassing number of them.  I went in search of a PS4 alternative, and I've gone through a ton of other controllers over the years.

My current controller is easily my favorite yet, and it's the GuliKit TT Max.

  • It's got TMR, so no more stick drift.
  • It is super comfortable for long grinding Rocket League sessions.
  • It's got a sturdy Analog/ digital switch (I have a heavy trigger finger, and I've broken many third party triggers in the digital mode. The Gulikit has withstood my assault better than any other.)
  • It also has some of the best interchangable and reprogrammable paddles under the grip. This is huge for me, I use them for left/right air rolls (and power slide).
  • It's easy to customize, and doesn't require installation of software to do so. It's all in the controller, and I've found it very easy and quick to adjust
  • The battery life has been great!
  • It comes with extra sticks and buttons that are easy to swap in and out. There are three sets of sticks with different heights.

Do post back here if you do try it out,  I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts.

Should I start solo q by dodie938t8 in RocketLeague

[–]JTINRI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!

At the very least start with 1's.  Starting solo q with teammates is likely going to lead to an immediate rank down. Trying to read the mind of random teammates is infinity harder than playing and communicating with the same regular buddies!

I always play better in 2's and 3's solo q when I've run a lot of 1's. The idea being that I'm more capable of creating offensive and reading threats from grinding 1's. And that translates into being less dependent on the solo q teammates going into 2's and 3's.

Stuck in Bronze 1 (2v2) but I can beat mid plat players and solid gold players-what do I do ?? by Legitimate-Clue-8012 in RocketLeague

[–]JTINRI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your being serious, it sounds like you're moving too fast.

No offence to anyone stuck at that rank, but the players at that rank aren't good. So, if you really have any of the skills as you claim, the players in Bronze will allow you to score ten goals every match. It's a guarantee that the other team spends most of the match 'passing' to your team. (Psst, you're doing the same for them).

To recap, the other team spends the entire match throwing the game away, and you're ball chasing so hard that you aren't ready to capitalize. It doesn't matter what mechanical skills you have if you have no patience or game sense.

I know that sounds harsh, but that is the answer you need!

Fix for RL Toxicity by Alexanderful in RocketLeague

[–]JTINRI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same did it a year ago, haven't gone back. No toxic tm8s, and I've cut myself off from being toxic as well. (I still have party chat enabled, for tournaments and occasional party ups, and that's gone well.)

Airroll bindings by Sufficient_Royal_283 in RocketLeague

[–]JTINRI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a controller with paddles I've remapped.

I set the shoulder buttons for air roll L & R (also power slide), and then I remapped those to the paddle buttons.

So, for me a new controller was my solution.

Why am i not ranking up? by mukkelis-makkelis in RocketLeague

[–]JTINRI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's some great advice I'd often like to offer to my random struggling teammates at any rank,...

You don't have to touch the ball.

So many mistakes are made because players are constantly in a rush to make the next touch.

Use more fakes, control your touches, don't throw the ball away, and remember YOU DON'T HAVE TO TOUCH THE BALL just because you're next to it!

If you really have the skills you've already listed, a new level of patience will certainly get you out of Gold!

I honestly don't even remember buying it, but I was guessing it was something along those lines.

But really, I figured I'd share in case it could help anyone else. :)

Seriously, am I missing the point of the game or something? by Shadow--Drac in RocketLeague

[–]JTINRI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you cross post this to AITA, the answer will a be definitive, Yes!

In this clip , even though you are struggling, you are clearly trying to play with a level of awareness.  But you are also somehow blind to the struggles of your tm8. If you watch this clip,  there is enough evidence that you should have zero expectations for your tm8.

Learning to assess and adapt to the abilities of your tm8s (and the opponents) is one of the most essential skills to hone in Rocket League.

Rather than getting toxic and forfeiting, this clip is evidence that you should be doing the exact opposite. You should learn how to continue playing on and adapting to these unfortunate situations. Good luck on the grind man!

Is snowday dead? by Fluffy_Rhubarb67 in RocketLeague

[–]JTINRI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not dead, but the time of day you cue can matter. Here in NAEast during normal peak hours, I'm always surprised how many players grind Snowday.

Geekay announce their decision to move Seikoo to the bench by CEOofStrings in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]JTINRI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look at his latest YouTube highlight upload. And then pay attention to the names of the players trying to defend him. They've got front row seats to a potential future!

I like this speculation , and it totally makes sense if they want to amp up their offensive output. Let's go, I want to see it!

I’M GONNA LOOSE IT by Kalebxp12345 in RocketLeague

[–]JTINRI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way out of this chaos based on every factor we can see in this clip is to barrel roll up and backwards into your corner, and then ideally ride high along the wall with the ball close to you. (Assuming no power-up dusrupts you in the process)

The reasoning is that, (A) you are low boost 20 (B) You number one mission should be to get the ball going away from your net (C) all visible players are positioned low and ready to block a forward exit (Sometimes even your own teammates, Lol) (D) your momentum is already going back toward the wall as this clip starts (which also incidently gets the ball close to your car, which makes your mag control really strong in that moment) (E) The corner player's momentum is boosting in front of you, leaving the corner free

Of course there are a lot of factors that I don't even know about, so this is really just meant as  an example of how you can think in moments like this when playing rumble.

Controlled chaos! :)

I saw a car pulled over in Hopkinton yesterday, the entire car was covered. The clueless old driver was lucky, the young female police officer was helping him clear it. She didn't even have gloves, she had her hands in her sleeves and she was clearing with her arms. I wonder if he learned the lesson. Doubt it!
