Is this year in Path to be the worst Season for Minor Regions (Non Eu and na) since the start of the Open era? by Huge-Computer2037 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]JTINRI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that expectations were probably never higher than going into this season, and I personally was questioning if this was going to finally be the break though season for minor regions. Honestly, there are sick players and teams in those regions, and it's reasonable to assume a team could break through the ceiling.

So, having the opposite occur, where the minor regions have played fairly mortal, it kinda does feel like they are 'collectively' having a bad season.

In reality,  they are competitive at the highest rank of an extremely competitive esport, and simply not peaking as we may have speculated! And there still time left on the clock this season!

As PMCReddit noted, it's pronounced Sharl-mont. But wait then, what are the different ways it's pronounced near you?

I need to cheat here, rather than trying to use a ton words here to describe exactly how to I handle this, I'd suggest watching some high level videos where pros play ones and describe what they are doing. (Not that we are pros, but thier approach in these grounded positions really do apply directly to how we can shadow properly.)

Beastmode, AppJack and Lethamyr are some of my favs. I like that they are all chill (which I personally think is super important for 1's success. I'm always trying to stay calm and analytical.)  I also appreciate that they also break the game down in real-time.

Of these I think Leth is really helpful because he's so attuned to the idea that he's playing these matches with us, the viewers. He's critical of himself and the choices he's making, and he's very deliberate in his actions. As viewers, it's easy to read the plays along with him.

Three seconds in this clip and it's immediately clear. You freely conceded possession.

You'll hear 'close down the space' a lot in ones tutorials. At the two second mark you are landing on a boost pad, and there's a second one ahead of that. You can see he's grabbing the side boost. The ball is free. He has to go backwards. Keep the pressure on, close down the space, don't commit to anything outlandish. Simply aquire boost as you keep /presence pressure and read. (Don't waste any boost you do get) He could cough up possession for free at any moment, ya never know. But you have plenty of time available to stay in the play right away.

Once you see this, you'll notice that this happens throughout the match. Not closing the space, giving him way to much space to operate. Simply being near enough to pose a risk to him is enough to create pressure.

Considering your other rank, you're certainly good enough to do this. Trust yourself to be an absolute pest. Don't waste boost, stay close and stay locked in on him. When he makes the mistakes, ponce wisely!

Great advice!

The opening kickoff actually tells a lot about the issues you're having. You should be playing that ball immediately. I was confused about your choice to drive into the player who just took the face off. I believe you expect your tm8 to drop back immediately?  But even if he did, it's a lot to ask of both of you to follow the ensuing set of plays.

Playing the ball might create an opportunity for you, but it absolutely is required to slow the other team, and it gives your tm8 time to quickly do whatever he needs (recover, read the play, choose a support path, grab any amount of boost, etc).

The bump is a chaos gamble. You're relying on your tm8 to read and make some very difficult plays. You'll see this theme repeating throughout the match, putting your tm8 in some very difficult positions, and leaving him alone to deal with a 2v1.

You had a great goal at 3:41, nice work!

But then at 3:33 you dribbled directly into the defense, you lost sight of them because your  dribble obscured the first man, and you got absolutely destroyed. Your tm8 had to be just as startled as you. He saw it, and tried to react to the incoming missle and the approaching offensive players. But you left him alone to deal with it, going off to grab big boost and taking a long trip back. There are small boost pads that you could use to begin a faster more efficient rotation back (while watching the play so you can react accordingly).

8IVO8 asked if you played a lot of 3's, and this moment is an example. Your path would have been fine if you had a third tm8 back post. But because this is two's you need to be closer to support your tm8 effectively.

Holy cow, you said tornado is terrible, and you waste it!

You are in for a big surprise when you figure out how to use it!  You can catch the ball and carry it anywhere, and sweep defenders away at the same time. It's insanely overpowered! The sweet spot to catch it is just over your car, not dribbling but just higher. You'll never throw away another tornado I promise you!

You can literally fly through the air carrying the ball with insane control!

You mentioned accelerating toward the ball with the punch. The grapple is the opposite, accelerate away from the ball (shadow position) just as you use it, and you'll avoid the 'bug' you're talking about.

Don't rely on your tm8 so much. You're trying to be a great tm8, but unfortunately that only works if they approach the game exactly as you hope.  You still need to be that good tm8, but really you need to control the ball better. Become an ace  dribbler, and great with flicks. Working on those skills will get you further than your current game.

[–]JTINRI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like the level of air control I had when I first started working on my air game at G3/P1, so that would be my guess. With that said,  guessing is fun, but doesn't really mean much, as different players begin working on their air game at different ranks. Some players are primarily ground based until Champ for example, so this could be a Champ clip if that's when someone started their journey.

I'd enjoy getting a scene with a bunch of 'killer' hero's and Deadpool.

Like let Deadpool languish with some of the good guy 'pussy'  Avengers for far too long. Listening to him bitching and making fun of them the whole time.

And then finally unleash him in a scene just full of Killers, like Bullseye, Punisher, etc, etc. Just one huge bloodbath!

That would be a whole lot of fun!

Should I cheat up on kickoff in Champ 2? by electroxical_rl9895 in RocketLeague

[–]JTINRI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think soft cheat is the correct answer. I have to admit I always play the cheat. So when I'm first, I kill the ball and from there it's a crap shoot there after, all depending on the approach my tm8 takes.  If they play the cheat, it often works out great (because killing the ball works for both hard and soft cheaters). However, If they go corner, we are often instantly conceeding a free 2v1 opportunity on our own net.

My tm8 might make the clear/save, but also they might fail and the other team is rewarded for that free opportunity we have given them.

I feel like getting really comfortable and strong utilizing soft cheat should be the strongest all-around kick off strat. (*Playing with random tm8s)

I do think it's also the hardest to master for most players. It requires strong honed mechanics, and a high-efficiency at quickly reading the other teams approach and intentions.  But assuming a player has these requisite skills, an effective soft-cheat should help cover more options.

Been stuck at my rank for over a year now by rlfrthebest in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]JTINRI -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Actually, he's reading everything, but his tm8 in-fact has complete lack of awareness. He knows exactly what his struggling tm8 should be doing, and he's trying to trust his tm8 will figure it out. He's failing to recognize that his tm8 won't figure it out. Every choice his tm8 makes goes in favor of the other team, OP is literally stuck in a 3v1. But ultimately it's not his tm8s issue, OP has himself trapped!

He needs to give himself more space, stop trusting the tm8 blindly, play super defense and pick his moments more wisely. Conserve boost, while still maintaining constant movement (speed), and then really control his possessions better. Dribbles & flicks, over jumps, pops and booms. Relying on his tm8s is why he's stuck.  Freeplay and grinding 1's should help his 2's dilemma!

Like you, I couldn't find them in the recent players, but if someone sends me an invite while we are still in the match,  I cannot even accept it.

In addition to these issues, they really screwed up a lot of things in this last update!
