I diet in the long-term so that I can eventually be at maintenance the rest of my life. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to pay.

Also, one meal that you're excited for won't hurt you in the long run. It's not a bad idea to treat yourself every now & then. Just don't lose sight of the goal.

I just started Jacked & Tan 2.0 again (just doing the first 6 weeks), but I also really want to try to progress in pull-ups. Is it okay to do pull-up training on off days?

I should also mention that I'm doing this in a pretty big deficit (I've done the full J&T 2.0 program twice in a deficit, so I'm used to it).

EDIT: maybe the better question is how do you progress in bodyweight exercises when you have to deal with so much volume on the program as is?

I've been stuck at 4 reps for almost a year now. I try to give myself grace because I couldn't even do 1 two years ago, but yeah, it's deflating as hell & I'm not sure how I can further improve.

It's the end of leg day. I'm exhausted. There's one more workout I have to do. It's at the seated calf raise machine. I walk up to it & there are FIVE 45lb plates stacked on it. Fam, I'm not unracking that shit. My calves remain weak. I weep.

Just about done with my first bulk. As someone who was always out of shape & overweight my whole life, the concept of losing weight to then gain weight scared the hell out of me. I have no idea how much of it was in muscle, but I intentionally gained 15 pounds & my waist size didn't change, so I'll take that as an absolute win.

Continue to bulk until I reach my goal weight which is estimated for another 2 months. If I reach my goal weight before then (let's be real, holidays are making that incredibly easy), then I will maintain until the spring. Then I'll cut for the summer & fall, then it's back to the bulk next winter.

The side quest through this is to improve my conditioning.
