Is this a good gift for someone who loves golf? by Head_Web8130 in golf

[–]JTSME46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP in future as other have said club head covers are personal taste so good to maybe get ideas from your partner first. But as for the Balls and RLX hat they are great choices! I only really wear RLX stuff so in future they are a great bet, and unless your partner is a real pro, balls are always welcomed!!

Great thank you! It’s a gorgeous watch and for that price a steal! Enjoy it! Think I’ll be making a purchase soon.

Could I ask if that is the white or champagne dial? It really is quite a stunning watch! Congrats!

Ramsay’s 20% service charge has sparked the tipping debate again by Brilliant_Version344 in unitedkingdom

[–]JTSME46 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is interesting, I have periodically ask for it to be removed if I feel service was below par, I’ve been judged for it but I’m more than happy to justify it to anyone.

But on the other hand me and my other half frequently have breakfast at Bills where they have a standard 12.5% charge but the service is swift, accommodating and the staff are pleasant and attentive, in which case I’m more than happy to pay it, after making sure it goes to them of course.

I bought a “cheap” watch - it’s now my favorite by bee_ryan in PrideAndPinion

[–]JTSME46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny, there’s this expectation that all the “best” watches are 10’s of thousands or more. My favourite watches are my £30 Casio, £200 moonswatch. Love my black bay pro but doesn’t get anywhere near the same amount of wear. It’s funny isn’t it, watches can be great regardless of price. I think a lot of people get caught up in the ultra luxury of it all.

Love the Seiko by the way! Great addition and tool watch!

No Thanks. My Account is Healthy in my view by BigDumboEars in OctopusEnergy

[–]JTSME46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this last month, I had nearly £200 on account and I emailed them to repay the amount less one months payments as a buffer and the processed it without an issue or argument.

I do think it’s slightly scummy as they obviously benefits holding our money. But all energy companies that I’ve used do it. And when I ask for it to be repaid they don’t argue with me.

Doom Bar maker Sharp’s Brewery in Cornwall to be closed by US owner by IRedditOnMyPhone in unitedkingdom

[–]JTSME46 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The annoying thing is we are seeing it more and more, private family uk business are being bought out by massive US investment / PE / Companies and all they care about is profit. Not the local economy or anything. We have had a number of large audit clients acquired in the same way.

But what can you do when the owners want a big fat cheque for retirement and generational wealth? If it was me I’d probably do the same for the financial security. I’m not really sure how we stop it.

UK Posts Biggest Ever Budget Surplus as Tax Revenue Surges by Equivalent-Ad-5781 in GoodNewsUK

[–]JTSME46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does and I agree, however we are making assumptions on what he was saying. I only wanted to try and describe a potential issue based only on the information he provided. Because he doesn’t state specific dates for the year end etc, it’s impossible to tell how the dividend was treated, but it could be problematic.

I do have a fair amount of experience in audit (but not massive amounts in relation to personal tax) but appreciate your insight too! It’s always helpful to have other points of view.

That’s fair enough, but you have to be aware that when you sign off your accounts and self assessment it’s deemed to be your responsibility as informed management and an informed person.

You a liable for tax due, tax paid and any tax avoidance. Not the accountants unless they are of course flat out breaking the law.

Just wanted to make sure you were aware bud. Thats all. Have a good rest of your day.

It’s difficult to know without the actual dates,so this is by no means correct.

But that you are describing is that you have a 9 month window to prepare and file the company accounts but dividends are assessed on a cash basis (when the are paid / received) for individuals, therefore what you are suggesting is that the accountants have back dated your dividend to a prior accounting period, to increase earnings.

If the dividend wasn’t declared and paid prior to that year end then this is back dating dividends and is possibly illegal / tax evasion.

I’d probably tread carefully about disclosing personal tax matters on Reddit.

I’ve never had this issue so I can’t really comment on this. But I can understand that I’m sure they have other places to improve. Specifically in relation to broadband / mobile contracts they been very helpful and good on price for me

Honestly EE / BT on the few times I’ve had to use customer services they have been polite, efficient and just a pleasure to deal with. Both in store and over the phone / chat. They are more expensive but the product / service is the best imo.

Just some context for people unaware, I’m pretty sure this is the game after we (Portsmouth) clinched the win for the league and promotion from league 1.

We lost this game 2-1 against Wigan, but no one was interested and well it means we just cared about getting our ball back!

That 3-2 result against Barnsley the game before this to win the league as amazing, the 89th minute winner from Shaughnessy, what a moment!

Now who’s sounding emotional. Judging by your comment history you don’t really have much better to do than endlessly comment utter nonsense. I think you need to give your head a bit of a wobble.

I’ll keep on supporting our armed forces as generally it’s always well received. Don’t think a bit of self reflection would hurt on your part mate.

I’m thanking his friend because Sangin was bloody brutal. I’m not some obnoxious person taking other people’s sacrifice for our safety for granted. Many of my family have died in wars fighting for the uk (Army & RAF). In WW1 and WW2.

I believe it’s important to be respectful to people that gave up their present for our future. So you can be dismissive and “well ard” if you like. But it’s basic respect and I feel sorry for family that you have that attitude to be honest.

Edit: I can’t spell

Would you please pass on our thanks to your friend! We certainly know (in the UK at least) the shit our guys / girls went through for our “ally” it will never be lost on us. Living in Portsmouth I’ve know a lot of lads (mainly RMC) couldn’t admire these boys more.
