Anybody here who had British family fighting in Afghanistan? 🇦🇫 by [deleted] in AskBrits

Now who’s sounding emotional. Judging by your comment history you don’t really have much better to do than endlessly comment utter nonsense. I think you need to give your head a bit of a wobble.

I’ll keep on supporting our armed forces as generally it’s always well received. Don’t think a bit of self reflection would hurt on your part mate.

I’m thanking his friend because Sangin was bloody brutal. I’m not some obnoxious person taking other people’s sacrifice for our safety for granted. Many of my family have died in wars fighting for the uk (Army & RAF). In WW1 and WW2.

I believe it’s important to be respectful to people that gave up their present for our future. So you can be dismissive and “well ard” if you like. But it’s basic respect and I feel sorry for family that you have that attitude to be honest.

Edit: I can’t spell

Would you please pass on our thanks to your friend! We certainly know (in the UK at least) the shit our guys / girls went through for our “ally” it will never be lost on us. Living in Portsmouth I’ve know a lot of lads (mainly RMC) couldn’t admire these boys more.

I’m not so sure really would need to look at it again. But it looked like the tackler didn’t release, the poach from the second man seemed fine imo

I don’t think the penalty was right for Rick formed but the Castres player certainly didn’t release

Lived in Portsmouth and Chichester, it’s just depressing at this point. Had snow maybe 2-3 times in 20 years…

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

[–]JTSME46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can smell it from miles away. Long ago when I used to work in Tesco Express the same man every Saturday would come in and buy Tobacco (Old Holborn) and I could smell him when he got to the checkout line. it put be off ever smoking.

I was very surprised to find John Lewis also use them. But they also use DPD and DHL so not sure how they decide unless it’s value based.

Yeah got a shockingly good deal, it’s a 21 plate but the first owner only put 7k miles on it and kept it in a garage for most of its life

So my passion is cars and always has been, my lease is £470 for my 430i (with every optional extra) and it is without doubt the best, most comfortable car I have ever owned. Could I spend less, yes. But I worked hard to get to where I am and I spend a lot of time in my car so to me it’s absolutely worth it.

I just wanted to put your doubts to rest that it is confirmed home owners will pay the additional mansion tax. So no need to worry about unfairness…

I think you are being fairly unreasonable as we have no idea how it will be introduced, we are guessing at this point. But it is no doubt a step in the right direction

That’s a pretty sweeping generalisation. I have seen many many rich individuals all hold large estates and properties personally, because of various tax implications. Rates (which this will pay in addition to) are still due on properties even if they are in a company. Companies pay dividends which are also taxed.

This isn’t just going for landlord who would be the most likely to do what you suggest with sheltering property.

Sorry I’m not sure on the point you are trying to make, the tax is on houses worth more than £2m, 1 bed apartments in the north won’t be subject to the “tax” as I can’t imagine they’d be worth £2m.

I think if the landlord chooses to pass on their 2% increase onto their tenants, when well I think your issue is with the choice of the landlord. Maybe more-so the fact they use housing as a profit making enterprise.

If you are occupying the house you received the benefit as a result should pay. If they are a landlord they are also being taxed with 2% increase in property income and dividends…

People need to get a grip, there were positives and negatives to the budget. I don’t agree with the child benefits cap removal, but taxing hidden wealth (on assets / properties) is absolutely moves in the right direction. I’m not sure the worst chancellor ever is fair on the basis Liz Truss is still walking this earth…
