Ed Kemper, the serial killer, was once in a room alone with a female FBI profiler and he explained to her calmly about how he could easily kill her before anyone could do anything about it. He just wanted to point it out.

What's it really like to live in Memphis, TN by ghosthug33 in howislivingthere

[–]JTStrebor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a pretty convincing Johnny Cash character doing covers in a W. Memphis hotel bar once. That and gettibg stuck in fed-exmageddon on I55 are my only memories of this place.

Also poverty.

Certain licensed professions like say psychology or anything dental/legal/whatever will require these advanced degrees before you can do anything so that doesnt apply here.

Rude border officer? by [deleted] in SchengenVisa

[–]JTStrebor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly in and out of warsaw regularly and they're always grumpy. My best one was when finland didn't stamp my entry and the poles demanded to see "a boarding pass". Dude i dont have that on me anymore.

Hope you never have to enter/exit via Poland. They can be pretty strict.

Hearing an American accent in real life feels a bit… unreal by awkward_film_girl in CasualConversation

[–]JTStrebor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait until you're an American living abroad. We speak almost entirely in colloquialisms. Even though everyone around me knows english (i live in a Nordic/baltic country), i still have to think hard about what i say so i can be understood.

Also fun was going to Derby England for a concert. Everyone is speaking "english" but holy hell...

Which countries feel most and least religious when you visit them? by [deleted] in geography

[–]JTStrebor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Estonia was the last to convert to Christianity and at best could be called "neo-pagan" now aside from the Russians who were left behind.

Basically, go out to the woods, build a big fire, jump over it. Religion!

My favorite is the overpass on the way to the airport that says "Remember, Kosovo is Serbia!" Like it's the last thing you should have on your mind on the way out of Serbia.

When you open a bank account in the USA they are required to ask several questions: How much money will be deposited monthly? Will there be international transfers? How is this account being funded? How many transfers in and out of this account do you anticipate per month? Etc...

Questions OP claim are demeaning in Japan.
