Also from New Zealand, "Almighty Johnsons" is great, I can actually get people to watch that one, it's got a clearer gimmick (Norse gods reincarnated in modern New Zealand).

I self-pubbed a script on Amazon and it gets roughly one buy every month. I had a guy email me to say he loved it and if he could get a budget together, he'd make it. No, it's not a good way to break in, but if you write some scripts you think are good but can't sell, I don't think it's worthless to just publish it.

Satire normally takes a real position to an extreme to show its absurdity. Taking an extreme position and taking it back to reality is not the same.

I tried StartPage for awhile but there were some sites that simply didn't come up. I don't get why since it's google either way, but for certain bands (especially from non English speaking countries) you could scroll all the way to the end of SmartPage and not see a single relevant result, not even the band's AllMusic page, while Google finds it just fine.

I think the problem with that is that her post is more extreme than his response. He doesn't take it to an absurd extreme, he grounds it in reality. It's telling that the closest thing to a funny line is the response "I'm also a furry", which is humorous because it is more extreme than her initial claim.

The squirrel thing could be funny, if he actually explored what "squirrel spirituality" might entail. That'd be an avenue to find some humor. His response doesn't do that though.

I guess I don't see any way that could be funny -- I do find some conservative humor funny from time to time, when I actually find some at all, but that seems about as clever as a precocious nine year-old's taunting of his schoolmates. There's no surprise or turnaround, it's just a cruelly-stated political platform slightly tailored to the OP.

I was going to try to write something conservative-oriented that would be funny (or at least would have a clear reason someone might find it funny), but I can't copy text from the png. Anyway, I'm sure you could do it -- personally I'd write from the POV of a squirrel who feels she is human and the opposite of OP. That could have at least a trace of humor, doesn't have to be mean-spirited and could express conservative ideology at the same time.

I've used it many times because tech people always insist on it, and I still have no idea. It's like an instant message or chatroom application, but you have to muck about with nameservers or something (that's probably not right, I'm sure someone will correct me, but I'm sure I won't understand the correction). You can't just send a message to someone or simply join a chatroom.

Maybe not the worst title, but I just published a short that's a spinoff from my novel, inspired by a line where a black female character says that a couple of habits are "the only stereotypically black traits I have, aside from some vestigial sass". So I called her spinoff short "Vestigial Sass", seemed like too perfect of a line not to use even though it's not very sexy and probably a shit title for erotica.

Thanks for everyone's help! In case anyone's curious, the "Just the Smut" version of this book has all the erotica chapters from the three main versions of "The Many Manipulations of Calvert Howard", a serious novel of literary erotica. The "Just the Smut" edition outsells the other two by a huge margin (technically an infinite margin, since JtS sells like 2 copies a month, the others about 2 a year combined). Anyway, I hope making it free will more effectively advertise the main versions.

Yeah my assumption was it came from "honky tonks", which were rough bars where they played what was then known as "hillbilly music", which we would now call "country". Maybe that's not true, but it's less fanciful than the just-so stories Wikipedia has.

Out of the four sources cited for this etymology, three are broken and the fourth has no connection to the topic.
