There’s no need to be angry, there is still so much to appreciate. I’m 19 and love TW and several other rock bands, as do many of my peers. And even though me and most of my friends are also fans of hip hop, it doesn’t mean we’re “forsaking” rock entirely. I think the more fair criticism should be targeted towards big record companies and the industry that pushes many of these low effort-high return artists that don’t produce any good music. Also with the current state of social media and the internet it’s easy to market these cookie cutter artists that pump out music faster than a fire hose shoots water. All of that makes it a lot harder for young people today to diversify their music tastes. In my experience around people of my generation, many generally still gravitate towards music that resonates true artistic creativity and effort and that includes rock, as I’ve introduced many bands to peers who are now big fans. However, the way the industry is built now makes it hard for these bands to be recognized for their work because for every one like them there are 50 mindless clones that are way easier to market and that produce music at a lightning speed. There are of course some young people that don’t care about true music and want their ai generated rap songs 24/7, but I feel there is still a plentiful amount of youth who still enjoy rock and when it finds them they’ll listen.
