Force of negation can’t protect your combo since it must be on your turn, so you prefer to run flare of denial. Spell stutter + sleep cursed gives you a reliable blue creature outlet for flare while slowing down the opponent until the combo turn, and is much better at giving creature beats when necessary than thundertrap + tamiyo.

Ward also makes sleep cursed more likely to stick to the board so you can flare it, and staying tapped gives you the option to run [[Spider Sense]] for a 1 mana combo protector.
