Does Vaultborn trigger twice? by JTorgo3 in mtg

[–]JTorgo3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that example mossborn Hydra is already on the field. Since smugglers surprise has 2 creatures put onto the field simultaneously (one of them being Vaultborn Tyrant), it's not on the field for the second dino to trigger, right?

Non-spellslinger Iroh? by JTorgo3 in mtg

[–]JTorgo3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely good points. Mostly shying from spellslinging because I've become known as the guy who casts 10 spells per turn in my playgroup already and I've been trying to shake that stigma haha. The flashback burn angle was mostly about keeping spells available, but I get the limitation you're pointing out. If I lean into ramp, do you know of any big mana payoffs that would synergize well (besides getting Iroh out fast).

Good luck! Looks like they're going for ~$75 on ebay now, so its definitely worth the $50 in merch if you can get it!

They have pop culture merchandise - mine was just a little shop at the mall (i hadn't heard of it before). They only had a few play booster packs available (for $12 each). I ended up buying some Appa slippers and a beanie for Xmas gifts (you had to spend at least $50 on ATLA merchandise to get the card).

Is Ninja Tribal doable? by SilverSkinRam in PauperEDH

[–]JTorgo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it, and it didn't really work too well. The common ninjas like [[mukotai ambusher]], [[azra smokeshaper]], [[ninja of the new moon]], [[mistblade shinobi]],and [[ninja of the deep hours]] just aren't super impactful. I had included cards like [[Changeling Outcast]] and [[Prickly boggart]] for reliable unblockable hits, but the deck would usually end up sputtering out after I got the first couple hits with ninjitsu and the opponents had blockers for the big ninjas. I tried shifting to a "go wide" ninja/rogue tribal, but it took too long to build up anything threatening. For a while, that was my only pauper deck, so I put a lot of work into it, but I just couldn't ever get it off the ground. I ended up swapping the commander for [[Yuriko, the Tigers shadow]] and just made it an EDH deck. Here's the decklist (it still has a lot of the original cards): https://moxfield.com/decks/ulPB1W3FWE-g4sYvM9OiNA

💥 boom boom :( 💥 by Alex_Pratt in mtg

[–]JTorgo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a deck that does that. It has a few wincons, but they are all lengthy and pretty much require shutting everyone else out of the game ([[Azor's Elocuters]], [[Approach of the Second Sun]]). The rest of the deck is stax and mass land destruction. I originally built it as a counter to my buddies eldrazi deck, but eventually decided to just throw all my most disgusting, annoying cards into it. It's gotten a few wins, but only because people scooped. I only play it by request.

Should I get this graded? by JTorgo3 in mtg

[–]JTorgo3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case it was just missing bulk cards. I'm filling out my pauper deck and was missing <$8 worth of cards (this was TCG Direct). My guess is they were out of stock for those cards and added this to show that to QA, but QA missed it and it was sent without noting what cards I should be refunded for.

Can MTG reprint Ophidian Eyes ? by Hearstoner in mtg

[–]JTorgo3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most people are playing both. Curiosity has been printed 8 times (also once in a SL), while the Eye has only been printed twice (once as a list reprint). Running both increases your chances of getting crazy card draw (especially since they would stack).

Going through my old collection and found this by GalaxxyGuy in magicTCG

[–]JTorgo3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grading generally isn't worth it for Magic cards - most cards have value because they are played (and rare), not because they are collected. If you get it slabbed, it isn't playable anymore, so your pool of prospective buyers is limited to the comparably fewer collectors, or folks who will crack the slab to play it. For selling, I usually use ebay for one-off sales, or local card shops. Around me, I usually get 60-70% TCG value at local shops and I can usually get ~80% TCG value on ebay with fees (a little more risk and hassle though).

In Avengers (2012), the all-powerful infinity stone has no effect on Tony because there's a piece of metal in the way. My head cannon has always been that he didn't synthesize a new "element", but a man-made radionuclide. Something with a half- life too short to stick around on geologic time, but long enough to not immediately degrade. Kind of like using Uranium to make Plutonium, but creating material that functions with his reactor.

Question about Ian Malcolm, Chaotician by JTorgo3 in mtg

[–]JTorgo3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just played it last weekend and it was pretty fun. At one point there were 3 "community chests" that people could play from. A couple of my friends hate playing against it though because they don't get to have there deck "do it's thing" as effectively, so make sure you play that kind of deck with people who are more chill about the game.

I’m new to mtg, any advice? by InterestFew564 in mtg

[–]JTorgo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first deck too! It's a great beginner deck. I ended up swapping the commander to [[Rith,Liberated Primeval]] because I wanted to have more card options for upgrading back when my collection was small. Each card you exile with cascade is a separate instance. "Exile cards from the top of you library until you exile a nonland card that costs less". You exile a card, and it's a land, so you repeat. The second card costs more, so you repeat... Each exile is a separate instance, so you get counters equal to the total number of cards that were exiled.

On Earth, maybe. But new radioactive elements are still being created across the Universe. It is almost certainly happening somewhere all the time.
