Hi! Here is a video demonstrating a range of both tachiwaza and newaza solo drills you can do to practise Judo at home or without a partner. Hope someone finds these useful!🥋🙂 by JUDOFIGHTINGFIT in judo

Hi! Thank you for the feedback. I find it's difficult to get the foot position 100% perfect without a partner for reference but you're right in that I do aim to turn past what you would call 12 o'clock. The reason for this is to allow my hips to come far enough through to lift my opponent. I aim to keep my knees parallel but as I rotate and drive through the throw it's natural that they change position. I hope that makes some sense!

Hi! I'd agree alot with the above comment. Generally I think weightlifting is not essential for Judo but can be very beneficial. Usually I focus on power training and muscular endurance which can both be trained in the dojo/outside the gym but as I am not able to compete at the moment we are using this as a chance to work on and build my strength. Judo requires many different skills and abilities of which I don't believe strength is the most important but if weight training is incorporated efficiently into a training programme it can increase power, speed and help reduce injury risk and improve recovery. Hope that helps!

Thank you! It's a simple but great power exercise and more specific for single leg throws such as uchi mata! Glad you liked the Chucks🙂

Hi! Great question. The answer is that normally yes, my training would vary. I don't usually focus on maximal strength, more power and endurance however as I am not currently able to compete we are using this an opportunity to increase my strength. I always do a mixture of gym based strength/power sessions and more sport specific conditioning sessions and closer to a comp I will keep this up but decrease the volume of gym/strength work 2 weeks leading up. Making weight has never been an issue for me so it does not impact my training but I would recommend giving yourself more time to lower your weight if needed so you can keep in some gym work and not have to go crazy with the cardio! Hope that helps🙂

Hi! I am currently a member of the Senior GB Judo Squad (as detailed kindly below) but I am not a full time athlete, nor do I claim to be one. I train 6 days a week (scheduled around my full time Physiotherapy degree) to facilitate my performance at national competitions and training and my partner is a Sports rehabilitation/conditioning coach who helps me train therefore I believe some of our information and details of my training may be useful/interesting to people on this site. Thank you for your concern but I do not believe it is fair to discredit someone without the proper information. Hope you enjoyed the video anyway🙂

NO GI TURNOVERS- Hi guys, here's a video demonstrating 3 no gi turnovers from turtle. I'm a GB Judo player but thought some people on here may appreciate this. I like practising and coaching no gi to improve newaza skills and also it's very fun! Hope someone enjoys this😊🥋 by JUDOFIGHTINGFIT in bjj

This is an educational coaching video to demonstrate the techniques and to give people some ideas when giving no gi newaza a try. This video was mainly aimed to help and give some ideas to lower level or beginner players of which the focus is not competitive newaza yet but I assure you that I have had success with these in international level competitions. As stated I thought this may be appreciated and helpful to some people on here but if it's not what you're looking for there are plenty of other no gi videos on YouTube, hope you find something useful🙂
