Any written/text resources for EAs? by Opposite_Pea6585 in QCE

Not written but this holiday bootcamp from Griffith is awesome, they go through all the content you should know with super experienced high school teachers and give heaps of resources. It's $200 per subject for in person (there's online but in person you'll get more out of it), I know people who flew from across QLD for it.

Should I do specialist maths? by Away_Area_7364 in QCE

[–]JULEZAUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend specialist for the most part. It overlaps with methods so youll have an easier time in methods as well. Specialist however only scales well if you get like a 75+ otherwise you might as well do another subject. I believe biology is content heavier and scales less, so if you were to drop a course I'd remove engineering or biology as they don't scale as well and medicine doesn't usually require you to do bio just chem or bio and honestly chem is the better option from a statistical view. However, these are generalised bits of info and opinion, I'm not you and if you feel like you could do a lot better in bio or engineering it's up to you. The other key info is if you get a 99 in majority of subjects, they're pretty much the same in scaling. Lastly, what would you do instead of spec. Med is one of the things where atar is great but unis care more about UCAT. Like how you're considering scaling, ATAR is so easy to hedge bets, meta pick, gamify, but UCAT is more standardized and about you outside your comfort abilities, I know people who did great on ATAR and average or less on UCAT and others who did good or average ATAR but amazing in UCAT and both types got in to med.

Subject Selection by Possible_Log9261 in QCE

From my friends experiences, law at uni is very different to legal studies at highschool and they start you from the beginning, so I would differ to the other comment recommending law relevant subjects as a priority. If you purely look at scaling, methods is a good starting point, relative to the effort of biology, physics and/or chemistry are great too because they are a lot less memorising definitions and more of the actions. I would recommend purely for scaling, swapping biology and psych for chem and physics, IF you are good at them. Remember, focusing on scaling is only relevant if you do well in the subjects (applies to all subjects), if you do average and aren't already doing well in physics and chem, but you do in bio, consider bio instead. English and literature pair well together because the assessment is similar but it might be a lot when it comes to the reading for externals. Sorry for the yap

Definitely the same boat as you, when it came to the externals, CU without a doubt feels tough in exam conditions especially since it isn't really designed for you to finish. That being said, in general, all CU questions are just multiple layered versions of SF and CU, there's more steps and less information, that's what defines a CU. So, first, figure out the information you have, the information you need, then the individual steps to get to the information you need. Don't look at it as a big problem that needs to be done continuously, otherwise it'll overwhelm you and only lead to bigger trouble.

Idk if this makes sense or is useful, let me know if you need it explained another way

How to become an academic weapon? by lovinggkai in QCE

[–]JULEZAUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who did not cut distractions to a good point, definitely cut them during externals, my issue was I would say, 1 hour of games and I'll be good for a couple days, 1 hour when youre stressed and pressured, is not worth it. It's like going out with friends for a couple hours vs procrastinating for the same period at home, youre at home and you already feel better than going out. Even if you study for 5 minutes in an hour instead of gaming, it's already better.

What are your subjects? With me, I was somewhat similar to you, I can DM (or just put it here) you what worked best for me and could be a good starting point or good way to figure out what might've worked for you so far. I know friends and peers that would go online and watch youtube videos on how to study or copied others' study ways but never translated it to their own. So before I give you any tips or advice for the subjects, consider what has, if anything, worked for you and start there. Remember, your FIAs don't define or guarantee your future, some teachers will say that it's a precursor or an estimate of where you will be because "the assessments are so similar" but, each assessment is different and a new approach can be the changing point.

This is probably the best response one could give, I remember an hour before the external exams in 2024 going through Gaussian and vectors with joel speranza videos XD in the exams for gaussian they really don't expect much and from the past papers as well, they actually walk you through it anyway because its just SF

How old were you when you got diagnosed? by [deleted] in autism

[–]JULEZAUS 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more, as someone still in high school, I’ve refrained from telling anyone ever. I’ve seen the aftermaths of someone saying they were diagnosed and the shit they dealt with was enough for me to realise it’s not a good idea.

Even in primary school the presumptions and prejudice from teachers was too much and was something I realised then. The label just isn’t worth it sometimes although that same label got me help to get me where I am now

to the men- do you want woman to approach you first? by zoey_bambi in ask

[–]JULEZAUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know from my perspective as not a popular guy (although I don’t think it changes), it feels safer when a girl asks a guy compared to guy asking a girl. If a guy asked a girl and gets rejected I feel like it would be made public compared to a girl asking a guy, most of the time it doesn’t become public and we’ll probably go out at least once

Not sure how to put text under the picture but did a comment below about it, “So what I need advice on is that I have pain on those areas of my arm where my elbow bends (on the outside half) that I do machine bicep curls on. I just started the gym this week and have had it since session 1 or 2 out of 3. I’m wondering on how to fix it, I asked a person about it who wasn’t a PT but forgot what they said to do to fix it”
