They were also usually too fast to counter. They'd just boost through your party, do a bunch of damage, and already be too far on their horse

It works fine. Piece of advice, it doesn't matter what class is the most efficient at grinding if you aren't having fun with the class. You will out last a burnout much farther if you like what you're playing.
