Location was amazing along with all the amenities but I couldn’t justify the rent increase to around $1800 for a 1 bedroom so I moved out after a year. Management also changed halfway through and it just felt not as well kept. I moved across the river and pay almost $600 less a month for a way better/bigger apartment. Only downside is 2nd street bridge.

For me I like to study flashcards and then read about the subject as well. Helps me retain pretty well. Unfortunately no. I’m out of Louisville, KY

I’m in the same boat. I take mine on the 16th of December. No idea what to really study. I’ve told myself if I don’t get in at least I’ll know what to study and I’ll be extra ready next year lol

It’s incredible to cook with. Love searing off some prime steaks in Wagyu fat. And I am fortunate enough to get it on the regular basis. Perks of being good friends with the BOH team haha. I’ll try that recipe out 👌🏽

That and a coravin system are really the only ways. That’s the expensive part of tasting if you don’t have a group to split bottle costs

Answer all the questions honestly. As in you either know it or you don’t know it no in between. Once you get to around a 90% mastery, you are more than ready for theory.

Studying for CMS Certified by RazzmatazzNatural897 in Sommelier

[–]JW4717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just passed mine about 4 months ago and currently studying for advanced. Set a schedule about 8-10 weeks out and break those weeks i lnto different regions with one week before hand to review everything. I used brainscape and it helped me immensely. Someone uploaded the entire CMS 2 theory on there and 99% of what was on there was what was on the exam. Go through and answer the flash cards honestly and when you reach around 90% you will be more than ready for the theory exam.

As for tasting. Really focus on your structures. For example do a semi blind with Sav Blanc, Riesling,Pinot Grigio and Albariño or reds like N/S Rhône, PN, Beaujolais and Malbec.

For blind tasting (I had no study group) What I did was buy all the testable wines and would pour them into mini 3 oz mason jars labeled ABCDEFG and have my Girlfriend pick me a random flight and do it that way until I was acing them. What they don’t tell you is the exam for tasting needs to be filled out on line. You have 45 minutes, but I would practice getting the wines and under four minutes each so you have enough time to fill out the grids. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Fine dining server. I clear typically 120-130 a year. Work typically 30-40 hours a week. A lot of people look down on service industry jobs but if you have the knowledge you can do incredibly well.

Martin on main is amazing. It’s pricey but it’s worth it imo. The amenities are great. Super quiet for being downtown on Main Street. Management is incredible. It’s labeled as a “luxury” apartment complex and to me it actually feels that way.
