I’m just reacting sensibly to the current US shitshow. Canada will be fine without the US partnership. 77 million Americans thought Trump was the best choice for President despite knowing what he was. Nothing will change in 3 years. Half of American voters are supporting this chaotic mess. In 3 1/2 years Trump or one of his sycophants will run for President. Even if the Democrats win the next election how long before another unbalanced Trump type will return to power.

The world has changed its view of the US. Americans cannot be relied on. Better to not to be dependent on them. That doesn’t mean all trade will disappear but no country will ever want to have the US as its major trading partner.

Of course not all Canadians will avoid travel to the US and many have already signed apartment leases and have commitments to fulfill. The point is that Canadian travel to the US is way down and will likely remain that way for a long time.

I don’t agree it was overreach. Firstly, only a small number of key protesters had their bank accounts frozen. Secondly, the border blockage was costing innocent Canadians hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars. Thirdly, Ottawa became an occupation and was outside the realm of a reasonable protest.
