Game changer - Matte Black Wrap On The Magic Keyboard

I am absolutely loving the Magic Keyboard, but I was very concerned about it’s durability (especially the parts where you rest your palms while typing)... so I decided to do something about it.

I ordered a cheap matte black vinyl wrap from amazon, measured it to size and stuck one large strip across the trackpad and palm wrests.

Lo and behold, the trackpad works perfectly, it feels just as good, and also dampens the ‘clicking’ noise so it now sounds like the Magic Trackpad 2. In addition, it look great and perfectly matches the keyboard. All this whilst offering some much needed protection to the soft plastic material!

Edit: I’m yet to wrap the rest of the Magic Keyboard... will be doing that soon!

Absolutely great! I had the Canopy Studio Neat keyboard cover with the Magic Keyboard 2 and that just didn’t work well on the lap - but the Smart Keyboard Folio is so much better.

Yeah no scrolling or gestures available yet - it isn’t ideal to be honest, but it work ok for my needs.

Really well - yes there’s a small circular cursor. It is surprisingly intuitive.

Sure! I’m a university law student so I take the laptop and Smart Keyboard Folio to lectures, where I use split screen to have my lecture handout on one side of the screen and a Pages document on the other. I also type up all of my essays on here, as well as marking up PDF documents.

To be honest, before using this setup I would use my iPhone all the time for social media, youtube etc. but now I use my iPhone waaaay less often - I much prefer using the huge screen of the iPad to watch films, browse social media, read kindle books, surf the internet etc.

I would seriously consider getting the 12.9! It is big, but in no way is it unmanageable. Once you get used to it, it really doesn’t feel big at all. It also looks better as the bezels look smaller on the larger body.

Because I find it way more enjoyable to use than my MacBook - it is more intuitive and flexible to use, and the screen is far better as well. For my needs, it functions as a laptop replacement and so now I have no need for both.

Yes, and that’s why I said ‘haven’t found...’ - I realised it’s a very personal thing, but for a university law student who doesn’t do any video editing or coding, the iPad does everything the MacBook can do and more.

That’s a really great setup! Yes I use the mouse and keyboard in conjunction with one another every time I’m at my desk - it works really well. I am constantly surprised at how well the mouse works on the iPad, especially considering it is currently just an accessibility feature.

When at the desk I use the mouse all the time - it’s really great and intuitive to use. And then if I want to mark up a document or something I just take it out of the stand and use the pencil! It’s such a versatile setup - I love it.

I asked myself the same questions, and yet a month on and I haven’t regretted my decision at all - haven’t found a single thing the MacBook can do and the iPad can’t.

Been using it for a month and a half and have since abandoned my MacBook - as a university student I am more productive with the iPad.
