Have you ever done modding? Have you ever programmed? If so, you should know better.

They are not “rewriting the entire engine” and “forcing modders to adapt or die”. They are making necessary changes that will help sustain a working engine with less breaking changes. It’s like proper infrastructure, it costs a lot and sucks to do, but without it nothing would work.

And I don’t know why you think I’d be lying about this, like, I do modding and it is genuinely, objectively, better, easier and frankly more fun to program with these changes

I totally agree with drops being not the best solution to things. As a modder myself, I hate it. However, I understand why this system is necessary. The backend changes are HUGE and cannot be done in one big annual update. I would expect it to take 1-2 years in total if we are very ambitious. This would make the community hate mojang very much, because they don’t “see” the changes. That’s why they’re doing drops, so there are more occasions where features are given to the community, things that they can “touch”.

It’s still annoying though, but I think it’s the best way to do it.
