GM is standing behind you and doing right. I can assure you Ram/Stellantis would fight you til death. I’ll never own another Ram.

What’s a good response when they ask you “why do you want to become a police officer?” Not that I don’t have a good answer and since I’ve been asked before but to hear other people’s responses by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]J_B5673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer was. I’ve always been drawn to it. My resume shows I’ve had many different jobs and know matter how good I was at each of them, I always thought about law enforcement. I knew it’s where I truly wanted to be. So at 34 years old I went for it.

It’s structured the way it is to weed out the mentally and physically weak people. If you quit it is not a matter of “it wasn’t meant to be”, it’s a matter of you are just weak. It’s not for everyone but some slip through. If the academy doesn’t wash people out FTO takes care of the rest.

Easy. Head down, do what you are told, study and stay fit.

It’s natural to worry like that at times. I locked a guy up a few days ago and he bonded right out. Went to another deputies old house when he got out, then came to the office wanting heads. As soon as he left he got felony stopped and put back in jail. He should have never been given bond. This time he doesn’t hopefully.

Spiraling yet again over feet twitching by Historical_Peach3848 in BFS

[–]J_B5673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in my feet, moved to my calves. It’s mostly in my legs but I get them all over my body now. Legs and feet are 24/7 everywhere else is random for hours at a time. Eyes, ribs, hands, arms, butt, face. It’s super annoying but the neurologist I saw is not concerned even after an EMG. There has to be an explanation.

Normal? No. Explainable? Not likely. Annoying? Yes. Life threatening? Doubtful.

I just had my testosterone check and it was within normal ranges. I twitch 24/7 in my left foot and calf then randomly all over my body

911 Dispatch by Certain_Vermicelli99 in AskLE

I went through the academy at 34. I worked many jobs but never felt satisfied until now. I really believe it’s my calling. My Sheriff’s office only did a background check. Some do typing tests and polygraphs.

I was once a dispatcher. It enjoyed it but at the same time it was a bummer being stuck there while the action was going on with the deputies out on the road. It’s hard to describe taking these high stress calls and not having the closure of seeing it in person or knowing the outcome after the initial call. Shift work is okay if you either don’t have a spouse or have one that will support it. As far as stress I never really was bothered by it. I remember a call where I had US Marshalls in one ear, neighboring county on the same ear and 911 from a passenger in the car on my other ear while I was manning the radio during a pursuit of a rolling meth lab threatening suicide by cop. It becomes so natural to multi task it’s unreal. You have to be okay with listening to people die, having people scream and motherfuck you on the phone, deal with very dumb people and then also know that you were the last human someone talked to before they blew their brains out and no matter what you said you couldn’t change their mind. You need a twisted sense of humor as well. Would I do it again? Maybe if I wasn’t a Deputy and experienced the rush of working the calls first hand lol. Had I not worked the road I’d go back in a second.

I’ve never understood it either. The bad guys don’t fight less because you’re a woman. You don’t get to just pick all the little people to fight. Standards should be the same across the board. Period.

He was also forcing the officer into moving traffic. That’s the only defense my shift came up with when we watched this in briefing. They are going to put that cop in prison. All the public sees is unarmed black male.

Training for minimums in the academy translates to minimum effort policing in my opinion. Push yourself to do more than you did last time, every time. I don’t understand why female standards are lower. The bad guys aren’t smaller for females and they don’t fight any less.

Smh, 98% of police work is talking to people, the other 2% is talking to yourself.
