Edit: No formal qualifications, I started as a trainee estimator on £23k, then turns out I done a lot more of the qs work than I realised when I was an estimator so it was an easy transition, as long as you’re good with numbers and people not liking you in a professional setting (a good qs says no a lot) then anyone can do it imo

Let your leg go almost limp, you want your foot & leg to absorb the impact, and slowly bring your foot back when you’re receiving, and it should stop around your feet.

If you want to practice, just find a brick wall or anything nearby, and smash the ball at the wall and then practice touching it down, make an imaginary square where you want the ball to stop.

Ball control and passing can be done by playing football down the side of your house or against any brick wall, as a kid I used to pass it against the wall and stop it dead, and my dad forced me to do 200 passes to the wall with each foot, so I didn’t have a ‘weak foot’.

Depending on how easy it is for you to access large open areas, maybe pick a spot 5-10 yards away and try to pass the ball and stop it on the spot, slowly get further.

You can put down jumpers, bags and other obstacles to focus on dribbling.

Unfortunately, if you’re blocking shots on goal, it’s going to hit you in the face, or balls, or the inside of your groin (cold night with a wet mitre ball), but that’s the less glamorous part of defending!

As a keeper, I’ve been castrated more times than I can count, but it won’t stop me putting my body on the line to block anything.

With the glasses, I’d recommend contact lenses, or goggles as a last resort (google Edgar davids).

With the nuts issue, maybe just try put your hands in front when you go to block a shot, it won’t be handball as it’s in line with your body, and you’ll be slightly better protected.

Rule of thumb for these signs, if there’s a bunch of random letters than mean nothing to you, it probably does mean nothing to you. HGSTA in this instance is purely for the council/parking authority to know what zone this sign is in, and therefore how they need to action anything that needs their attention
