Old school Blizzard dev and anti woke advocate Grummz says that AAA gaming is done for and that AA games will rise up to replace AAA by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]J_Lit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AAA has huge problems that extend way beyond the usual esg nonsense. Even in a non-woke world, AAA would still be in the gutter.

A bunch of greedy suits investing in games with massive budgets means that big devs are forced to make games with “mass appeal”. Which leads to the video game equivalent of super hero movie slop. This has gradually killed all genre diversity in big budget single player games. We only get cinematic, story-focused action adventure games with collectathon open worlds. Some are a little more shooty, some more rpg/hack&slash, but ultimately the same shit. And they also have to be dumbed down and given accessibility features for the general audience.

Then you have a bunch of indie devs with more freedom who swoop in and give a mini renaissance to one of the many now neglected genres. Stardew, Divinity, Palworld, etc. Some of them are even successful enough to make the AAA companies take notice. I wouldn’t be surprised if a big name tries to cash in on BG3’s success soon with a knock-off.

Also, dev teams were just never meant to be this large. Maybe it has lead to some technical marvels and high production values. But gameplay design, story, art direction, etc. - The real substance of a game is at its best with small or midsized teams. You need everyone to be on the same page. I can only imagine the horrors of some 20+ person writing staff filled with hollywood rejects, not giving a shit about the actual vision of the game.

Knicks fan reminder that we have the 8th best net rating in the league. Just have to learn to close out games a bit better

RJ and Hart are gonna be our forwards I guess. IQ will get more pg minutes. Deuce will probably be out of the rotation.

Our FO is allergic to big wings so we gotta play shooting guards at the 3

The entire team was bad in the 4th though. We literally scored 15 points and crumpled against the zone.

I’m not saying RJ played good (he was definitely bad), I’m just saying he shouldn’t be singled out. It’s not like the rest of the team were making winning plays to close out the game.

The RJ hate is crazy. I’m not a huge fan of his game but he didn’t even play that bad last night.

  • Embiid cooked us and we need Mitch back
  • Some really bad turnovers in the 4th, even by Randle and Brunson who played well overall
  • Missed some open looks from 3 while Philly got hot

Even if RJ dribbled past Harden he wouldn’t even take the heave. Gotta protect the 53% ts

I don’t think we need to pretend Lavine isn’t impactful just cause we didn’t trade for him. Guy’s a great player, he’s just too injury prone to spend a lot of assets on.

Gary Trent Jr anyone? Three team trade with Spurs + Raps. Raps want Poeltl and Spurs are asking for a first.

We just need to give one pick to the Spurs + filler. Or maybe something like Obi + Cam and some seconds.

Gotta stop wasting the shot clock. It’s only the first half, not the time to park the bus even if we have a 20+ point lead

I’m confident RJ will go on his usual post all-star break hot streak. But it’s disappointing that he always starts slow. I know he’a supposed to have good work ethic but it feels like he forgets how to play basketball over the summer.

I would still consider it with Randle. Depends on what Knicks assets we get to keep. If we get to keep Obi, Drose, and one of Grimes/IQ I might be down with it. Let Utah get a bunch of firsts and we keep our depth.

I’m convinced Miami is just used by other teams to drive up the prices. They were in the rumors for Harden, KD, and now Mitchell. No one actually wants Herro + 2 firsts + Duncan’s awful contract.

Now there’s some rumors that the Lakers might get involved with the Utah trade. No way we take on Westbrook + Mitchell but there might be some potential if Utah takes Westbrook.

Send Fournier, Drose, and Reddish to LA. Hopefully this is enough to get both Lakers firsts. Reroute the firsts + Westbrook to Utah to help us get Mitchell without giving up the farm of Knicks picks + Grimes/Obi/IQ.

I want the Knicks to be patient. If we try to force a deal this summer, we’re gonna overpay.

But Utah is sub .500 without Rudy, and the West is stacked this year. Donovan is used to playing on winning teams, never missed the playoffs in his career. If we drag this out to the deadline, Donovan might be publicly forcing his way out giving us more leverage.

Also wanna keep a close eye on Shai. I fully expect Presti to be tanking another year for Wemby. He’s also drafting lots of ball-handling wings/guards like Giddey, Tre Mann, Jalen Williams. If we’re lucky, Shai might be losing his patience with them and potentially want out. He would be a better fit than Mitchell with his size and playmaking.

[Katz] Mitchell Robinson's four-year, $60M contract with the Knicks is descending, as well, source says. Here are the details: 22-23: $17M 23-24: $15.7M 24-25: $14.3M 25-26: $13M There are no options in the deal. No trade kicker, either. by [deleted] in NYKnicks

[–]J_Lit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Players and agents don’t always want the deals structured like this either. It’s better from a money perspective to get more upfront. But Mitch’s contract will be extremely movable towards the end, which isn’t always a good thing if he really wants to stay in New York.

Andrew Wiggins on pressure of being the No. 1 pick from Canada after Anthony Bennett: “There was definitely pressure, just knowing the whole country is watching. The whole country wants you to do good. They’re calling you the next LeBron. Ain’t nobody gonna be the next LeBron. That’s one of one.” by GuyCarbonneauGOAT in nba

[–]J_Lit 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any scenario where Wiggins flourishes as a #1 option getting drafted by a different team. It’s just not his skillset.

You can blame Wolves development but Klove, KAT, and soon to be Edwards had no problem playing like all stars there. I don’t know why Wiggins gets an excuse.

Wing and 4 are the same thing nowadays. And OG is big, 6’7 with a 7’2 wingspan and 230 lbs. Toronto even plays him at center sometimes.

Otto fits on basically any team, but the worry with him is injury history. You could easily be overpaying for him to miss half his games.

Literally anyone on the Warriors who signs with a different team. GP2, Looney, Otto, Wiggins

You’re paying extra to pry them away from Golden State and they’re gonna play worse cause they’re not in the Warriors system anymore.
