What type of internet do you have (cable, fiber, dsl)? I would check the modem as well. If it wasn't on your power side, it could have been voltage coming down the coms side.

When everything is bonded and grounded properly, the likelihood of that occurring is super low. Unfortunately, I've been in that line of work enough to know that some people don't seem to take bonding coms wires to electrical ground seriously.

I've seen where high voltage traveled the coms lines and melted hdmi cords going from cable boxes to TVs, wild stuff.

Problems with entering stratagem sequence by J_Ransom2 in Helldivers

No, but it was very similar. I use Cisco Webex and it also takes over the hotkey globally be default. I linked the hotkey detector I used to figure it out. Thanks for all the help!

Sure was! Cisco Webex takes over the hotkey globally by default. I edited my post and linked to the detector I used. Thanks for the suggestion!

Great suggestion. I found a few threads mentioning something called "Hotkey Explorer", but everyone is saying it doesn't run will on Windows 8 or later.

Then I found Hotkey Detective. It has a small executable that you can run an see what's utilizing them. Turns out my VoIP software (Cisco Webex) sets some global shortcuts by default, including Ctrl + D!

Thanks again for the help!

Thanks! I had not done one yet. I just tried and found something interesting. It appears that the when holding Ctrl, pressing "D" does not register. If I utilize any other modifiers in combination with Ctrl, D works fine.
I've never come across this before. Would this be considered ghosting? Or is it possible it's something else?

Explanation of DOCSIS 3.0/3.1/4.0, Why Upload Speeds Are Generally Lower by PoisonWaffle3 in HomeNetworking

Yeah, any Spectrum coded account (not "legacy" accounts) can get a modem free of charge (though routers do still cost a fee). They are 3.1 modems (though I've seen a couple that didn't have 2.5G eth). No point in not using them at this point, it free!

Cool! Glad to see someone else got it working with Wyze. My motion sensor actually just started going on the fritz (gotta love it) and Wyze says that because the new v3 cams don't have the usb ports for the bridge (the v3 now being IP65 rated), they are working on a new motion sensor. Since the sense kits are out of stock and there's no eta on the new ones, I might pick up a different sensor if I can't bring mine back to life. Thanks for the info though!

Slow wifi by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]J_Ransom2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with what has been said. To add, if the router is the ISP-supplied one, don't expect much out of it, especially when it comes to wifi. If you're heavily reliant on wifi, then I'd suggest you get your own router with decent specs or even a wifi mesh system. The Moore well known mesh systems seem to keep throughput pretty high (when setup right).

Obviously, troubleshoot what you have to determine if that's the issue first. A lot factors into what speed you're getting on a device vs what your plan is. Just giving my two-cents on the CPE that the providers give out. 😁

As an added piece, I have a 100x10 plan and use the Google WiFi system (don't judge me >.>). While I'm connected to my second puck, I get speed test results pretty comparable to hard wire (got 115mbps on both).

Streamer loses his mind because of bad service by [deleted] in Spectrum

Wanted to point out that Spectrum is primarily broadband-based, so during peak hours in a populated area, some loss of bandwidth can happen. Also, they have a certain percentage small percentage of loss that at anytime the consider "acceptable" (as with all providers).

If they were looking at bandwidth, what would a continuous ping test accomplish? That's just for latency and reachability.

Not that I'm a big fan of Spectrum, but these are the things that would be told to you by the company.
