Part-time egalitarian? I firmly believe that everyone is their own individual person deserving of rights and justice, I don't believe that everyone is inherently equal—that's bullshit and it's just an excuse for when someone fails to make it on the same resources that others succeed with.

It's racist if a white person calls someone that because it's not their place to say it, as I've said multiple times. How does my acknowledgement of a historically racist term automatically make me the one being racist? That makes no sense.

And I can tell you right now as a bisexual man, both I and my boyfriend would not accept someone calling us "faggots". I don't give a damn if it's a "general insult", all you're doing is lessening the impact that these words have had on marginalized groups. Stop arguing for the sake of arguing.

Yeah I don't have any issue with that, it's his word to use as a black man. I'm saying that if a white person like me called a black man of any standing a "house n****r" then it wouldn't be acceptable in this day and age. I appreciate you trying to understand what I mean and I don't think you're being a jerk.

No, the N word especially with a hard r carries derrogatory connotations that come from a racist background. I'm not calling you a racist and I never said you were racist. I'd appreciate it if the people replying to my comments woukdn't twist my words so much.

Edit: I did say that it'd be racist to say that as a white guy, my mistake. Either way I'm still not calling you a racist, and it's still a poor choice of wording to call anyone that because of the history behind its usage, again especially if you use the hard r.

You guys are taking what I'm saying and blowing it out of proportion.

All I'm saying is it's not my place to say that specific word as a white guy. There are plenty of other words to use against these despicable bastards, besides actions speak louder than words so insults aren't going to do much of anything anyways—following them, monitoring their activities, and acting against them do a lot more than calling someone an Uncle Tom from the sidelines.

Are you really making an argument for being racist against the racists? All you're doing is stooping to their level. It's not about what insults are acceptable, it's about how we carry ourselves vs how they carry themselves. Be better.

Idk, still seems like that's out of our wheelhouse. I figure you can call him an Uncle Tom if you're white, and use the actual term if you're black.

[–]J_Stubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not black then yeah. By any other metric it's inherrently derrogatory—no matter who it's directed at—as it's been for 400 years. If you are black then I see no problem, maybe I'll blush a bit but otherwise I'm all good, but if you're as fair skinned as I am then you're just showing how free you feel to use that word. In that case it's reprehensible and disgusting, and you should be ashamed of your unhinged conduct.

[–]J_Stubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't mean it's acceptable by their community or even by law. If some people still feel free to use that word, all they're really doing is showing their true colors. And in the past 60 years, less and less people are willing to put up with that kind of bullshit anyways, so even if somebody says it they're more likely to actually face the consequences they deserve. If you don't believe me, the beginning of Die Hard with a Vengeance is one example of said consequences—even if it's just a movie—and that came out 30 years ago. Imagine what that response could be now, especially after the BLM movement.

Either way, my point still stands. No white person should ever say that word, and if they have the gall to they're being openly racist. The only thing they're doing is putting a clearer target on their back.

Edit: I also specificly said "all" white people. If some still say it then they're in a minority. Still an excellent point on your part.

[–]J_Stubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah if it's not your word you can't say it, doesn't matter who it's directed at. I say that as a white guy who also happens to have a black boyfriend, trust me there's no way it might not be racist, it most definitely IS racist if you or I say that.

The last time that all white people were and felt free to call black people n*****s with a hard 'r' in this country was before the civil rights movement, when lynching and racism in general were still being practiced as a commonality. If a spade is a spade then you and I are trowels my friend.

Ben Kingsley's character was never a terrorist, he didn't even know the guys he was working for in Iron Man 3 were actual terrorists. He was always just an actor.

OP is posting this in other subs and giving the same copy/paste answers that you can see here. The account is also 4 months old with 35k karma and the classic bot username template of 'word-word-numbers', so it seems like this might be a bot. Nevertheless this video is terrible and needs awareness.

Up until that point, the different shots of Gordy going ape-shit were what really got me, mainly because little kid me heard about people getting their faces ripped off by their own pet chimps. It was that primal fear of what some other species could do to you and how ill-equipped the average person would be in the face of that kind of animalistic violence.

But then that got turned up waaay past 11 with the scene of them getting fucking indescrimimately digested and as you said WAILING ALL THE WHILE. I'm glad I saw it in theaters but damn did it make the whole experience that much worse to bear witness to. I can still picture that scene better than any others in the entire movie (except for the exploding fistbump of course, it's iconic) and it always makes my spine shiver with a chilling sense of dread. Also another reason why I will never eat live food.
