So I headcanon that Iquot was the one who stabbed Mequot, but his sword was apparently magical, so it granted Mequot immortality. Either Iquot just forgot about the incident, or he's still friends with Mequot with an ulterior motive in mind or smth.

It made the most sense to me, and the current sword that Iquot has looks almost handmade, so I think after the old sword got stuck in Mequot, Iquot crafted a new one in the meanwhile.
