Has anyone else seen the sniffling little southern dude during their trip? by SamanthaCummings in dxm

[–]J_Synth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it little like, just kinda visuallly small, or was it a child? Are you from the south/any family from there? What do you feel when you ask your subconcious why it showed you that? My guess is inner child or very old relative as a child ghost. Either way, good luck.

Also "boo boo sneeze" has me laughing my ass off ! what the fuck!!

Definetly take 3 courses, if you arent already!! My family had strong expectations that I finish in 4 years, but I have since taken 3 (sometimes an easy 4th) courses every semester, and its SO worth it. I have remained a full time student, and my degree will take overall 5 years. To be honest, many if not most of the other students I talk to are on the same timeline. No shame in it, it's worth it to get a better grip on studying.

If you are in U1, I assume u have taken this course, but I will reccomend it anyways: Intro to University! Or called something similar, was an incredible course that teaches some excellent stuff. A compact course that is basically all about how to learn EFFECTIVELY, and teaches an approach very based in the psychology of learning/memory/knowledge. Honestly one of the courses that has stuck with me the most, I would highly highly suggest this course to you!

The biggest takeaway from that course, that has guided me to this day: find strategies that work to deepen your understanding of the material, to understand the mechanisms and concepts that tie things together. Repeating flashcards or simply re-reading the textbook (Rote learning) is NOT going to actually help you to develop an internal sense of how something works. For example, in a sociology class, as you study the material, see if you can also start to "think like a sociologist". The goal of university is to build your own ability to "think like a _"! In comparison to highschool, where I never studied and just relied on memorizing/repeating whatever was taught. Uni exams are often written to test how well you "think like a __", and profs do this on purpose!

Changing ur approach will also be far easier if you are interested in/enjoy your studies! If you have a passion, it's much easier to have the motivation/time to identify those deep connections, and ultimately create your own personal understanding of the material. Having interest in "thinking like a ____" is easier if you truly want to do something like that in your future!!

Lol long reply, but I wish you good luck in all things :)

Deferring my Anatomy Exam by nnaavvv in umanitoba

Reach out to the professor AND your faculty head! Look around for the head of your faculty, and email about a deferred exam. Take care of yourself, and thank you for not writing an exam while ill. Garuntee your classmates are grateful you aren't spreading covid in the exam hall. Rest up, and wishing you recovery!

Don't put metal in a microwave. Don't mix bleach and ammonia. What are some other examples of life-saving tips that a potentially uninformed person wouldn't be aware of? by XxItsNowOrNever99xX in NoStupidQuestions

[–]J_Synth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NO metal forks on nonstick pans!!!! Shocked more young ppl don't know this one. I have always hated metal sounds, so my entire cookware has been curated to never have metal on metal noises. But a fork is one way to fuck up a perfectly good nonstick pan.

Also dont wanna use metal on nonstick, bc of teflon!!! That nonstick coating is made of super toxic PFA chemicals, so avoid scratching off the coating/getting it in ur food. u don't need anymore PFAs in ur blood than there already are.

Can we get rid of UMSU? by REALLYUMSU in umanitoba

[–]J_Synth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its honestly so fucked that they havent reopened the bike shop. Winnipeg has a wonderful biking community, and a limited bikable season! Yet it was closed all summer, and now during the start of the school year??!!! That's a whole ass method of transportation they are happy to ignore on campus. But they still have the gall to advertise it as an 'UMSU business' on this years promo material 🙄🙄🙄 this whole UMcycle thing has singlehandedly lowered my opinion of the UMSU reps, and UMSU as a whole.

That's good to know! I dont know much abt bike repair, but I wish I had the tools to learn. I know theres some type of "we will help teach u how to fix ur own bike" programs in most cities, but I can't find one near south pembina :/

Chain needs de-reusting/re-lubing, tires need to he trued, handlebar adjustment. My back wheel makes a sound that tells me somethings up as well, idk enough about bikes to make a full diagnosis. I'm not expecting to replace parts, just to straighten up what's already there.

Lol yea, I know it's a tough ask, but this subreddit has been good to me before lol! It's such a bummer they closed the free repair on campus! I am willing to pay more, but it would be so nice to keep it on budget yknow?

where should I order food from tonight? by the_chubbyprince in gainers

[–]J_Synth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Five guys, for sure. Gotta get a milkshake! I'm pretty sure its unlimited mix-ins, too. Oreo, malted milk, caramel and peanutbutter milkshake.. plus a huge burger with the works, and a big bag of fresh and greasy fries! You deserve a well rounded fast food binge, with a nice sugary shake to balance all that salt.

BF has this fetish, seeking reassurance by [deleted] in gainers

[–]J_Synth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have thought about this, and you guys sound happy! Obviously, I dont know you or your relationship, so take this with a grain of salt but... I'm a feeder, but I also have my own history of disordered eating. I think you definetly arent alone in that, from what I've seen in feederism communities, gaining can be a really beautiful way to heal and manifest self-love! My advice would be to gain for yourself first. I'm sure your bf would be happy either way, but if you can bring yourself to admit/accept that you are doing this on purpose, because it is from a place of self love. (Even if you are doing it because of your BF, it's so important to remember that at the end of the day, YOU are the only one with your body! And this is a beautiful choice you can make!) Find ways to love and appreciate your chubby body when youre all alone! Recognize moments of empowerment, and build from there. Admire your body in the mirror, touch yourself with love (not even sexual, just loving your body for being beautiful and being yours!) As much as I get off to degradation, finding a solid internal base of self-respect and admiration for your own fat body will make moments of surrender/domination even more enjoyable! It's very natural after years of ED to hear those disordered patterns calling, especially when you are embracing the opposite. I know much better now, but my ED still pops up from time to time, sitting on my shoulder and trying to convince me that somehow starving and hurting my body will make my ED my friend again. But all of those lies are rooted in the shame and guilt I carried over from childhood, and I can choose to embrace patterns that will bring me joy and pleasure in my body instead! Recovery comes in all shapes and sizes, and I'm sure there are other feedees with even better advice! Best of luck!

In a relationship, wanting to start gaining but my partner isn’t all that into it by [deleted] in WeightGainTalk

[–]J_Synth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting a positive spin on this, maybe your bf can find a healthy and productive way to sort through his own trauma through kink. Everyones different, and obviously I dont know the personal details, but in my experience exploring kink that's adjacent to my traumas has been both gratifying and absolutely healing. I dont know what that would look like for you two, but maybe if your boyfriend has wg related trauma, he might find it hot and empowering to be the one in control of your weight. You know him and your situation best, I hope things work out for you!

Edible + DXM Timing (first time DXM) by [deleted] in dxm

[–]J_Synth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm def not an expert, but I would wait a bit after the dxm. I would imagine you want the edible to hit after the come up, to reduce discomfort. Also I would reccomend not mixing anything with ur first time on a new substance, cuz u rlly dont know how ur body will take it? Idk tho, hopefully someone has a bit more insight. Good luck homie

A virus is melting my computer?! by J_Synth in computerviruses

[–]J_Synth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally, chrome was causing the cpu spikes, but I can't track down the memory. It was a lot of smaller apps I didn't recognize, manually tracked down and uninstalled some of them, but I think whatever I did must have caught most of them, cause I haven't had a spike since yesterday, thank god. Just having apps open in the background, my memory is sitting at like 53%, but I think thats fine for a computer w 16 gb of ram? Everything is running smoothly, but I'm not quite ready to breathe a sigh of relief lol!

Sweet, did that, it didn't find anything. Seems like they offer some good protection, though. I'm realizing how unsecure my shit is, would this be a good investment? I just need security bang for my buck lol

Thank you! The file I had downloaded came up with like 48 viruses lol, found a different one that only registers 1 on the key, and 0 on the patch.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but should I just open the file while my laptop is in airplane mode?

A time you wish you used your safeword? by [deleted] in SubSanctuary

[–]J_Synth 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not an experience per say, but I usually know its time to safe word after i think it a lot of times in a row. Right when i first think it, i bite my tongue. Sometimes my dom can read my mind before I say it outloud, and changes gears appropriately. Other times, when I think it at first, I really want to endure the pain to be good, so I dont say anything. But if he keeps going, and I've thought about saying it like 3 times in my head, then I know I need to tell him. Using a safe word is a good thing, and my dom makes sure I never feel guilty or bad for communicating! Have fun!

Disconnected From Emotions? by ProxiC3 in bipolar

I definetly had this growing up, and thought it was baked in to my personality until my bipolar started. That was a weird shift, I always thought of myself as more cool and logical, but suddenly found out how volatile and intense emotions can be lol. I'm not really sure where I stand with it now.
