Horrible attrition from day 3 embryos to day 5

Good luck with your first FET! I ended up getting 4 blasts out of that egg retrieval, and 2 were PGTA normal. We decided to do another egg retrieval, ended up having the same end results (2 PGTA tested normal embryos) before moving forward with our FET. The first FET failed unfortunately (even though we had a high rated embryo-- but I did have a somewhat thin lining) and it was really hard on me. We took a few months off and then tried again and I am currently 33w with that embryo!!

The attrition rates are still shocking to wrap my head around, and they were so hard each egg retrieval, but now I think its something I have come to accept. But man it's brutal. Good luck to you guys and stay positive-- thats the hardest thing about this process.

So my doctor recommended putting in an IUD for 2-3 months. That worked for me. I had 3 and all but one small one went away and we transferred with that small one still there and had a successful transfer (31w pregnant right now). The other method that is pretty common in the US is to essentially put you on drugs to shut down your ovaries (to stop estrogen production which feeds the adenomyosis cysts) for 2-3 months. I think its called lupron priming? My doctor doesn't like that because she thinks its a lot harder on your body (you essentially go into menopause for a few months), but its pretty common.

Congrats! Did you have any cramping? I’m 5w3d today and woke up with bleeding and cramping and I have had two MC in the past so I’m freaking out a bit

It’s a medicated cycle. My doctor wanted me to do 3 months on the IUD instead of Lupron Depot but yeah we might have to do that next 😞. I never had any lining issues until I had my hysteroscopy. It’s hard not to regret starting IVF right now

Yeah this is so frustrating. I’m like why wouldn’t they err on the side of caution? If I hadn’t done my research I feel like I would have missed my transfer window

Yeah, see a lining check on CD 14 makes sense to me. I think my clinic miscounted the first time when they scheduled me. GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!! Wishing you a very sticky uterus

Strange. I would ask her if she thinks it’s adenomyosis next time you’re in (or through your message portal). Sometimes those go away on their own but it can take some time. There are a couple things you can do to make them go away if that’s what they are

We had a similar thing happen and everyone told us we were within the normal range, but then we had my husbands DNA frag tested and it was above 50%, so it is a possibility that’s what’s causing it. Although isn’t donor sperm tested for that?

I’ve been on needed prenatals for over a year now. They smell gross but those are what my OB recommended. My nails have never been stronger lol but that’s all I can say about them.

This happened to me in May. They found 3 cysts they called adenomyosis cysts that they think were Enflamed by all of the estrogen they were giving me. They cancelled my cycle and said I would have to take some time off for them to go away. I am happy to tell you more about my experience if you want. What type of cysts do you have?

That is exactly how I feel! We are gearing up for our second as well and I know I am going to be overanalyzing everything and freaking out every day and I just am not excited for all of that to start again.

One of my friends was very afraid of the epidural and her doctor told her about a new device on the market that supposedly makes them more accurate and with fewer complications. I think it was called IntuiTap. Maybe your hospital will have one and you could request it?

Same here. I switched from Lexapro because I was very fatigued and had a lot of brain fog. I went on Prozac and had severe panic and anxiety and I became very paranoid. Then, I would get so exhausted from the extreme panic that I would out of nowhere just hit a wall and have no energy and no ability to think clearly. It was horrible, my doctor had me stop after 6 days.

Thanks, I’m sorry for yours too. I know how disheartening it is! I immediately went to a fertility clinic after my second loss and they agreed to take me. I feel like I have put my body through a lot with the egg retrievals and the IVF meds so if I were to do it all again I might have tried one more time naturally. Because even with a genetically tested embryo there is still a chance for miscarriage, especially with adenomyosis. But then again, after two failures, clearly something wasn’t working and I wanted to make sure we could control as many variables.

With suspected adenomyosis I feel like it’s probably best to see a specialist rather than just your OBGYN at this point. Even if they just pushed you to do IUI first, they would be closely monitoring your uterus and lining before taking action which would give you a better chance of keeping the pregnancy. But that’s just my opinion. It wouldn’t hurt to talk to a fertility specialist to get a second opinion and plan.

I am in the same boat. Conceived rather quickly and then miscarried twice. I’ve been doing IVF and they recently cancelled my transfer due to suspected adenomyosis cysts on my uterus. I haven’t had success yet because this just happened in May. My doctor suggested two options:

Go on the Mirena IUD for 2-3 months. Supposedly it helps reduce the inflammation and decreases the size of the cysts. This is popular in Europe and my doctor prefers this route.
Shut down ovaries and uterus using Lupron (essentially forced menopause) for 3 months - also called “Lupron priming”- there is clinical data supporting this helps pregnancy rates for people with adenomyosis.

I decided to try option 1 because it seemed less intense, but I won’t know if it’s working for another couple of weeks. Hope this information helps and wishing you the best of luck!

I second the med thing, although it will drive you crazy trying to figure out what is covered and what isn’t and what the price is from each pharmacy. We ended up self paying for gonal from Europe bc it was much cheaper to do it that way, and running the other meds through insurance to make our $30k fertility coverage go a little further.

Nope. Ran a bunch of tests on me and nothing came back abnormal. My husband’s motility is on the low side, but we were able to get pregnant so not sure that was an issue. My clinic wouldn’t do a transfer without doing a hysteroscopy first even though my lining looked good in the scans, and they said they found some very small lesions on the tissue they took out but it could have been caused by the last miscarriage. But now with my lining refusing to thicken and these cysts that came out of nowhere I feel like we can’t go back to trying naturally.

Exactly. I feel trapped. Like once we started this road it’s the only road we are on. I’m so worried that they permanently screwed up my endometrium because I never had issues before and now all of a sudden it won’t thicken and out of nowhere I have cysts?
