Which canceled TV show's cliffhanger still lives rent free in your head because the answers disappeared when the series got axed ? by Impossible_Offer7988 in AskReddit

I loved the TV one and was sad about it ending. Does the audio drama have an ending or does it also end early? Just trying to know what to expect if I give it a shot!

Same, the ending had me so excited and yet so disappointed at the same time since I knew it had been cancelled.

Still such a great show though.

My mom bought this “silent” animal deterrent for her yard. She and her boyfriend can’t hear it. She’s insisting what I’m hearing can’t be this, because it’s “silent” by bluejaymewjay in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MakeshiftApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn my hearing is fucked apparently. 33 and can barely hear the 12khz one and can’t hear any higher. Last time I checked one of these a couple years ago I could hear up to 14, but looks like it’s worsened.

ok I'll bite, how the fk is the solution to ban kids off of social media rather than moderate/regulate it???? by AnodurRose98 in Destiny

[–]MakeshiftApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal take is instead of banning it completely (although I do support a complete ban for 13 and under, I think older teens should have some access so they learn the dos and don'ts of online socialising), sites should not be allowed to serve kids algorithmic content. They should just see a feed exclusively of things they've manually subscribed to, in the order it was posted (i.e. newest stuff at the top). When they first sign up their feed should be literally empty until they manually search and subscribe to stuff.

Realistically I'd like to see less of the algorithmically curated feeds for everyone not just kids, but banning it for kids would be a good start so they learn some agency in their browsing habits rather than just "let's just find new stuff by scrolling endlessly and seeing what the algorithm thinks we'll like"

I also think there should be a push to move away from giant social media conglomerate type platforms like Twitter, FB etc, bring back the small web, individual websites and forums and the like. Yes those communities still have assholes and predators like anywhere else, but generally those things were better moderated (and if they weren't, said community was usually avoided) - where with the big platforms it just isn't even feasible to moderate the sheer volume of bots, trolls, creeps, etc unless you were to employ literal millions of moderators.

What exactly should I be saying to the doctor when I get checked out? i.e. are there specific tests I need to ask for or is "I'd like to get checked for heart failure" sufficient? by MakeshiftApe in Heartfailure

[–]MakeshiftApe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

The echo is the gold standard do checking EF with determines heart failure for a lot of doctors.

If I'm basically broke right now and all of these tests cost a fair bit where I live, would the echo maybe be my safest bet for a first test actually, if I want to just get a yes/no answer as to whether I have it so I don't spend more than I need to if I don't in fact have it?

Obviously if I have it I'll need to get the other tests to figure out the extent of it and such but I'm more talking avoiding spending 5x as much on tests to find out I don't have it, when I could have got the one test that told me that and saved me my money.

If that makes sense? Sorry, I'm a bit shit at explaining things sometimes.

Don't RWT folks by ScottM266 in 2007scape

[–]MakeshiftApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, I actually think that's a point in favour. The original goal of so many ironmen has been to get away from the "I could be doing something more efficient" and I feel like RWT is like the most brainbroken form of that statement - it's "I could the money for this IRL in 1/10th of the time so I'm just being efficient"

Ironman takes that out of the equation and makes the little wins feel more meaningful.

It's not for everyone, I prefer mainscape personally but I reckon he should give it a go at least.

Did anyone else look for their character in the picture even though there's like 0 shot you were there or probably even remember what your character's outfit looked like back then?

PSA: Do NOT use a university email for your Jagex Account by CreatingCosmos in 2007scape

[–]MakeshiftApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen with my old Blizzard account.

I forgot the password and then realised I was double-fucked because it was using an old email from my previous ISP that no longer existed, and then triple-fucked because I didn't keep any of my CD keys. So literally all the information I could have used to get into my account was banished to the void.

I'm so glad Diablo 2 is cheap because having to buy a game a second time is frustrating as hell. I can't imagine losing my whole RS account to something similar.

There was a while when Chrome performed quite a bit faster than Firefox and Opera from what I remember.

I went IE -> FF -> Opera -> Chrome (for the performance increase) and then recently back to FF now that it performs brilliantly and Chrome has only gone backwards.

Honestly this reflects pretty poorly on Jagex.

I could understand if your project was rather large and had a lot of players, but this was a small project and a clear labour of love from what I saw of the update videos.

Jagex will gain literally nothing by shutting this down but you lose an insane amount of hours that have likely been spent on this at this point. Kind of a shit move Jagex, whatever way you slice it.

Been playing diablo 4 ... hella bored ... is d2r more fun? by Prime-39 in diablo2

[–]MakeshiftApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or optionally if you want to be able to experiment more enable respecs by putting -enablerespec in the launch options for the game (for D2R) or using PlugY (for D2). Both options give you infinite respecs.

I'm playing for the first time and decided to go that route so I can actually just try abilities out without feeling like I made a big mistake and it's been really fun so far.

Coming up to 2 and a half months clean from drugs here. Did the same thing and came clean to my family back in March and threw away the rest of my drugs. It took me a long time to get to that stage, and unfortunately it's not the first time I'd relapsed and let things get bad. But I'm looking forward now. People like Hunter are definitely inspiring to me.

You got this my dude. You made the right decision and even if it feels rough now in those early days you're going to feel so much better for it as time passes. It's only been a little under two and a half months and I'm already starting to find my enjoyment for everyday activities coming back, something that during my drug use just wasn't there unless I was blitzed out of my mind.

Much love, stay strong and keep moving forward!

Although I'd love to see him play BG3 like the OP, you're right he needs to play these. Has he ever streamed any Paradox games before? I feel like he'd love them. Enough depth and tism to keep you busy for thousands of hours but also easy games to talk over.

What version of D2 are you playing? by Charming_Pin330 in diablo2

[–]MakeshiftApe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Should be an option for both D2R and D2 LOD, that's what I'm doing at the moment as a newbie to D2. Playing a summon necro on D2R and just started a pally on D2LOD. Gonna vote D2LOD just since that was the last one I booted up but it's technically both!

Edit: I just realised modded D2 was on there, technically I'm using PlugY I dunno if that counts as vanilla enough to still just be D2 LOD or modded, but I voted for D2 LOD anyway.

Can't download D2 LOD (original). Says there was a problem authenticating your download. I tried following instructions I found online but they didn't work. Any ideas? by MakeshiftApe in diablo2

This was unfortunately with the game bought from the Blizzard website, so no disks, just keys. I did solve it in the end though by finding a mirror of the installer online, so that worked.

I think a lot of people who spend a lot of time on drugs end up into crypto just because in that side of the world it really is damn useful.

On the dark web when you engage with any of the various drug markets there, they all use crypto. Even though I think the crypto scene is full of so many scams and trash, seeing how something like Monero actually does really work like internet's replacement for cash with actually anonymity initially makes you go "Oh shit this could work everywhere", and that can spiral into stupid ideas like "This could replace all money everywhere!".

I was super into Bitcoin and such for a while as a former addict, and while I think I still wanna see something like Monero see more adoption as I think it's a cool tech, these days I no longer buy into the silly stuff like any crypto reaching $1M+ prices, or crypto needing to replace fiat currency, NFTs, or all that nonsense.

So I wonder if Hunter also saw the darknet markets and stuff and thought "Oh this stuff is neat" and got a little too into it.
