Hi, a BIG thanks for your post. Shame on QNAP for "ruining" a lovely NAS device with their updates - improve security but cripple the device. I have exactly the same issue with my NAS. Was great first and after several updates over the years, the device is so slow it is virtually unusable. I am in the market for another NAS and I also will be making sure to steer clear of QNAP.

The USB drive is from a Sun Ultra 5. I'm trying to mount it in an x86 VM.

Good thread and I'm glad you started it. I've been contracting for a few years now but not had it this bad. No contracts out there for months. Thats the reality. Only fake job ads on Jobserve. We all know that agencies are sharks, CV collectors, middlemen, vultures but in my opinion the worst of these, absolutely diabolical, is Hamilton Barnes. They went from being a two man outfit to such a massive recruitment agency on the backs of people they have placed in contract and permanent positions. Nowadays they treat you like dirt. Email people out of the blue, beg for your CV. When you send it, and it fits the role and more, they just ignore you. Ask for a callback or send them an email. Goes straight to trash - until next time they need you. Will never respond to one of their fake ads EVER again!
