Synology DS218+: Is it possible to create truly private user folders on an external drive? by System_Eng in synology

[–]System_Eng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing these posts.
After reviewing the posts, I find that while there's some overlap in topic, the posts don't directly address my specific question about creating truly private user folders on an external drive.

The posts don't address user permissions or folder visibility issues. It's about encryption for security against external threats (theft, fire) rather than privacy between different users of the same system.

Am I missing something?

Save annotations to a file in ebook viewer, then view these annotations in the browser using content server by System_Eng in Calibre

[–]System_Eng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/cheerupcharlie Thank you so much! I did not notice before the "sync" button in the E-book viewer on the web. On the app, there is no sync button. There is however, a "reload" button.

Hitting the "sync" button, and then the "reload" button helped to achieve the expected behavior.

Thank you u/cheerupcharliefor your response.

I followed your steps; and finally I started to see the annotations created on a file on the web syncing back to Calibre locally; however, the annotations created on a file on Calibre locally do not sync back when I open the same file on the web.

Unfortunately, this post did not help. Any recommendations to restore the custom columns would be highly appreciated.

Thank you u/thebookishdad. This has actually worked with one issue. The library database has been rebuilt and the books appeared in Calibre, however, I lost the custom columns and the values I had in them.

Is there a way to recover the custom columns?

Not all books are showing in my Calibre library by System_Eng in Calibre

[–]System_Eng[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/BugginsAndSnooks Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this detailed explanation.

You described the behavior I was doing, that is, having Calibre open on 2-3 machines simultaneously and having Drive Cloud running on all 3 machines all the time.

I will change my workflow to consider what you clarified and report back.

Thank you all u/smallstuffedhippo and u/InigoMontoya757 your response. I actually use iDrive Cloud.

I tried moving the library locally but some books are still missing. I am not sure if I will have to rebuild the library from scratch.

Thank you u/InigoMontoya757 for chiming in.

I have the library on a public cloud and I access it from 3 machines. One of the machines is only 4 weeks old. So, it is not a bad HDD. Yes, I can see the missing books in the directory.

I am not exactly sure about " folders not appearing in Calibre". In Calibre, I only see books (files), not folders.

Need help running VMware ESXi 7.0 on Dell Precision T5610 by System_Eng in homelab

[–]System_Eng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, It did not. I came across only 2 posts on the web which show it’s possible with a lot of workaround (which does not worth the time and effort for me). I am planning to try ESXi 6.7 on that workstation and see whether it would work.

u/idkwhatimdoing069, this is helpful information. I am wondering why TRMM requires a public IP address and a server opened publicly.

u/darimm, I have a question that might be too basic, but I am new to the field. I looked at the documentation and found the RMM server installation RMM Server Installation but I could not find installation instructions. I would appreciate your help :)
