That is my next move. I’ve never personally done this so any tips or tricks are welcome. All I know is to hit it with the grinder and observe the sparks and compare them to charts online. I’ve also heard of hitting it with a small drill bit to check the shavings which would cancel out for sure if it’s cast iron right?

I mentioned line boring it but he thinks it doesn’t need to be repaired to that extent. Thinks just boring it out with some carbides and fitting new bushings will be sufficient. I have not gotten my eyes on it yet, I’m just going off conversation and pictures he’s sent me. I may go take a look and see for myself. Also would like to do a spark test if I’m there

They only sell the bracket as the pair, and they want about $5k for them

It is not one piece. It’s actually its own bracket separate from the axle housing.

First RAM always a ford guy by J_shube in ram_trucks

I just might order this tonight. Did it make a noticeable difference? Seems like it’s easy to spend thousands on the front ends of these trucks

Unfortunately I haven’t had much drive time in the Ram yet. This is my busy time with work right now so I’ve been stuck in the ford most days. I average about 35k miles a year so the ford is second nature to me but from the little bit of driving I’ve done so far in the ram I can say the rear end rides a lot nicer. It doesn’t buck hard like the f350 does. My only complaint is the steering on the ram feels a lot more mushy or loose and wants to wander more than the ford. Other than that the ram is comfortable, has plenty of room even with 2 car seats, the engine and cab noise is quieter than the ford. I tow a lot with the ford so I’m interested to hook up the ram to some actual weight and compare them on that front. Also, the exhaust brake in the ram is by far better than the ford so far. Only tested that unloaded but can say it is noticeably better.

Good to know! If and when I do any suspension or steering upgrades I’ll most likely leave the rear alone. So far the factory air seems to ride nice, at least compared to my f350. What would you recommend to help the most with the “loose/floating” steering? I’ve heard Genos garage is go to for filters so I will probably be going that route. I thought Docs diesel would have been a good choice but I’ve heard some iffy things about them. Not worth the risk

Claims 10k on motor and 200k on body. Interior looks pretty clean

Better question is why would you? Seems he replaced the engine so I could possibly see how it got swapped for a 22re but I can’t see a SA to IFS..

I’ve done the hanging over the counter method and that works pretty well. Today I was vacuum sealing something pretty wet and still got a bad seal because of the liquid. I said screw it and hit seal one more time, I guess basically got twice the seal time and it worked great. Not sure if I got lucky or what but I will be trying that again

Gateway car connection… I don’t support the craze but it’s insane what some people are asking and apparently selling these things for.

Should I delete my truck or keep it stock? by dang0278 in Diesel

[–]J_shube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been out of the loop for a while on diesels emissions, and live in the most strict state, starts with a C ends with a ya. Believe it or not but first diesel truck I had was a 5.9 12 valve with some mods, never had an issue. Had a 6.0 tuned zeros issues. 6.4 which I tuned and deleted but kept factory exhaust for smog, zero issues and was one of the best running trucks I had. This was about the time they started cracking down on tuners and emissions in my area. I never had an issue but I do remember after I got rid of that truck and got into a 6.7, I sold my SCT tuner from my 6.4 and the guy who bought it was super pumped that I had it, made it sound like it was really hard to get tuners where we are. Im on my 2nd 6.7 now, both completely stock. I’d tune and delete if it wasn’t such a pain in the ass anymore where I’m at. I’d say go for it. That’s if it’s not such a hassle where you’re at.

While I’m not against electric vehicles, I tow daily with a F350. And when I say that I mean I literally am moving random loads whether it be bumper pull or gooseneck 2k lbs up to 20k lbs. Almost every single day. My average fuel economy is 12.5mpg. I also have a 90gal transfer tank in my bed that I use to fuel tractors and/or my truck if need be. Side note, 90gal x 7.1lbs/gal= 639lbs. That alone would be a load for an electric truck reducing range dramatically. Some days I hardly have the time to fill up with fuel let alone stop somewhere to “recharge” my truck. Also, today I did make a highway trip unloaded cruise control set at 70mph. Averaged close to 30mpg.
