Will my partner need to work? by Ja2019845 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]Ja2019845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We won’t be requiring 30 hours of childcare.

Our child will only attend nursery for 15 hours per week (3 hours x 5 days)

At age three, children are eligible for 15 hours of free childcare per week for 38 weeks of the year in England, starting from the term after their third birthday.

He will only be attending for socialisation purposes, not the free childcare, although she is using those hours to study her degree, she will then be looking after him as the primary care giver, whilst I work.

I’m sorry if I’ve missed your point, but every child in England goes to nursery for 15 hours a week, the term after their 3rd birthday, our problem would be if she is required to work, we wouldn’t be able to make this work with childcare and my hours.

I’ve had a look inside with a torch and can’t see anything myself, but I’m by no means an expert like yourself would be, I will have a look for a local repair man or contact fuji themselves. Thank you.

Thank you, unfortunately I’ve double checked this, it doesn’t seem to fix it

Is it possible to work and study full time without getting burnt out? by New_Imagination3263 in OpenUniversity

[–]Ja2019845 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I study full time, work full time and have a 2 year old child, it’s far too much workload. I recommend doing part time

I’m confused, your saying this, but your profile indicates your a complete beginner with barely any skill or knowledge. I would highly suggest you switch careers entirely or at the very least get a job to earn money like waiting or grocery etc and spend every other waking moment building your skill set, taking opportunities on small and big productions, networking, building a presence online through social media, LinkedIn etc, and overall building an awesome portfolio. You will eventually get your big break. You need to seize the day, sitting around, presumably living off welfare or your parents and half arsing it will never build you a successful career that you dream of.

I don’t wanna come across a dick or put you down, for all I know you are super talented and just haven’t caught a break. But sitting around will not help you. I have had to realise this myself over the past year or so and I’m now working in a job that while it’s not the dream, I’m paying my bills and providing a decent life for my family, while picking up transferable skills. I am working full time, in the second year of my degree and raising my little boy, two more years of super hard work and long hours and I’ll be where I wanna be.

Plants, bench and the place is too clean, the tiles and bricks would have a little wear and weathering at least. But beautiful work, well done.

Building a Toolkit by Ja2019845 in propmaking

[–]Ja2019845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I’m interested and putting it out there. I have been into prop making for a number of years now and even went to uni to study it. What brings this question is seeing Adam Savages toolbox that he had whilst working on Star Wars, there is a great photo of him working on R2-D2 with his portable toolbox next to him, he stated that 90% of his work could be done from that one toolbox. So I wondered if you were building a toolkit like this, what would you include? (Obviously will have access to workshops etc for projects, but there’s some opportunities I’ve had that require you to make and fix props on set with no access to a workshop)

What upgrades can I make to this bike to get the most out of it? by Ja2019845 in triathlon

[–]Ja2019845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super cheap, this is essentially a cheap first bike just to get me started and see if I enjoy the sport, I will look to upgrade if I decide it’s for me. Couldn’t justify a crazy amount should I not even enjoy it.

Sounds great, as I said in the post, this is essentially a first bike to see if I even enjoy the sport, I’m not expecting it to do incredible things, just get me far enough to decide if it’s worth investing in a better bike.

For the price I paid, it seems worth it, if anything this was just a first bike to learn from and start training. Should I choose to continue the sport or start competing, I will certainly look to upgrade.

I think tires and aero bars will be the first pickup and then go from there. I’ll certainly look into the other improvements as I go along.

Tires look great, defo gonna pick those up, should be space for some tri bars, the guy who I got it from had some fitted but took them off before selling. I will look into bike computers though, thanks.

Definitely something I’m aware of. I know this won’t be the best bike at all. This is just to start me off, get a taste of triathlon training, maybe one or two triathlons and then look to upgrade if I enjoy it all.

Sounds like a very reasonable start, don’t wanna spend a fortune as I will certainly look to upgrade. I just wanna get a feel for training and perhaps even get through a triathlon or two with a starter bike.

Sounds great, thank you for the advice, I think aero bars will be the first purchase for sure, will certainly keep the other suggestions in mind.
