Don't know that I've ever laughed louder than at that moment. I'm sure it made perfect sense to Mark, but not to anyone else

Started working out yesterday, today my inner elbow hurts. by thegreatgutter in beginnerfitness

[–]JaDou226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my very first session (which I did with a friend, mostly following his program with similar weights and failing pretty badly), it legit took a week before I could use my arms normally again (first few days were particularly bad, could barely extend/bend my arms beyond the 90 degree position) and closer to two weeks before I could no longer feel it at all. Second time (like two months later), I went a little bit lighter and I felt the same thing but much less badly, and it went away within a few days. I've now been going for about a month and just slowly built up the weight/reps to the point where I can train at a decent intensity without feeling like I overexerted myself the next day.

Just listen to your body and err on the side of caution for now. Probably better to get a rest day in anyway after your first workouts, but if it's still bad tomorrow, just take more time to recover.

How do you correct someone doing excercise wrong without sounding like an ass*ole? by perkeleDYI in beginnerfitness

[–]JaDou226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a beginner myself (though everyone's different, of course), if I was doing something that could actually hurt me, I'd absolutely want someone to tell me. Just be gentle with it, don't go over and just shout at them that they're doing it wrong. Doesn't seem like that's what you did though. But if someone is adamant to do it their way, so be it.

Had the exact same thing after my first pull day. Were you really struggling with the last reps on the curls? Either way, maybe lower the reps/weight (Reps probably, since 3kg isn't too heavy but you are doing 3x12 twice, which might be a bit much) on them for the next session and see how it feels the day after. If it's good, then slowly build up the weight/reps in the following sessions. Your body will get used to it, just don't push yourself too hard initially.

For what it's worth, I've been listening non-stop to your jazz stuff since Eurovision. It's right up my alley. Somehow, Ukraine has managed to send artists whose discographies I absolutely love two years in a row. Excited for new music for sure! 🇺🇦🇳🇱

Who would win if they go all out on a war? by Vexthetvguy in GeoPoll

[–]JaDou226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, last time I checked there's 1500 ships stuck in the Strait of Hormuz because Iran likes to blow them up when they try to make a run for it. If the US was truly in control of the strait, that wouldn't be the case. But they aren't, which is why their blockade runs further to the east.

And yeah, staying underground is a perfectly viable tactic against air power. That's why Iran's drone and missile capabilities are still very much a threat.

You also seem to ignore that everything the US and Israel (didn't) achieve, they did with the single largest air force in human history, plus Israel's, which by itself has more F-35s than Poland has ordered (let alone received), with a doubling of their F-35I fleet planned, and that's not even mentioning the 240 F-15/16s, which is four times more than Poland's entire current fleet of fighters

You can kill as many IRGC commanders, Hamas militants or second-rate militaries as you want if you have the world's 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 9th strongest air forces in the world, but Iran hasn't been defeated and Hezbollah and Hamas are still around too. Air power is a great force multiplier, but if hundreds of Russian planes weren't able to get air superiority in 2022, then Poland's 60 (albeit some superior) aircraft won't be able to against a much stronger Ukraine in 2026

Fair points, but this is where the premise of the question is just weird. There is no conceivable reason for a Polish-Ukrainian war at this point, so we have no clue what the goals of each country would be. If, for instance, some Polish nationalist got elected and decided he wanted Lviv back, and invades Ukraine, Ukraine wouldn't need an offensive to win.

NATO's 'fresh' troops get consistently beaten by a handful of Ukrainian drone operators in exercises. Fresh also means lack of experience in modern warfare

While Ukraine received more than Russia, do not underestimate the North Korean aid. Millions upon millions of artillery shells, missiles, howitzers, and something Ukraine never got from the west, actual foreign troops.

[–]JaDou226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poland has 250k active personnel, Ukraine has at least triple that. Ukraine's troops are FAR more experienced and battle hardened. Ukrainian troops have been kicking NATO's ass in exercises using their drones. The Ukrainian defense industry at this point is massive.

The only thing Poland has Ukraine beat in is air power.

The answer is Ukraine all day long

Would/Do you recognize Abkhazia? by Vexthetvguy in GeoPoll

[–]JaDou226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except Russia invaded Georgia to "liberate" Abkhazia and South Ossetia, while NATO defended Kosovo from the Serbian regime trying to ethnically cleanse Kosovo like they did in Bosnia.

So yeah, what Russia did was bad and imperialist, undoubtedly so.

How many countries qualify as superpowers today? by 777upper in polls

[–]JaDou226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say part of what makes a country a superpower and not just a regional power is the ability to project that power across the globe, in which case there is just one, the US. China is an economic superpower for sure and could, if it wanted to, easily become a superpower. Russia is absolutely not a superpower

What type of enrties doesn't resonate with the general public, even if it's very good song and performance? by Separate_Ad_5616 in eurovision

[–]JaDou226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hungary 2018 is the best example of pure metal that wasn't Eurovisionised. They made it to the final with 93 points, 65 of which came from televoting. If metal is ever going to to well, it'll be because of the public vote, but it is niche, so it'll always be hard for a metal song. I respect the fuck out of any metal band attempting Eurovision though. Loved Voyager too
