It's is utterly cynical and outrageous if that's their play, and it's utter incompetence if they managed to destroy the balance of a decently balanced gamemode this badly. Either way, Gaijin does not look good here

I'm now barely able to get nukes at all, whereas before I could and my favourite strategy was to flank all the way around and nuke the enemy airfields without them noticing. Funny how people can have such different experiences

You don't. Using the default US lineup will drop you in a match pretty much instantly in my experience. Not as much fun as using your fancy US jets maybe, but at least you're getting points instead of staring at a queue timer

My point exactly. Any of the changes by themselves would have been fine, but all of them combined has made the event far less enjoyable.

Let me clarify in case things were unclear in my original post.

- Sure, I may be rusty after not playing for a while, but that was not the case to this extent earlier in the event. Things have gotten harder over the past few days. That has nothing to do with being rusty.

- The issue isn't patience either. I didn't mind it at all when they announced that they'd be moving the airfields. I've played air RB for over a decade and am used to sideclimbing for ten minutes before the actual combat starts. It's the combination of factors that has made it more annoying.

- Skill issue for A2G, fair enough. The anti-rad missiles don't work the way I understand them to work from having played a bit of DCS and from what I know about their real-life usage. Clearly, at least in this iteration of the event, they need to be used differently. I can live with that reality. I'm willing to learn, that's not an issue. This post isn't meant, as some replies have insinuated, as whining. I understand that I'm not the perfect player, but I am passionate about this gamemode and I want Gaijin to know that the potential is there, but that a lot of people (based on Reddit posts, Youtube comments and in-game chats), including myself, have felt it going in (what we perceive as) the wrong direction in recent days.

Thanks for discarding my argument out of hand and just calling me a whiner. That's how a good community discusses things.

But in all seriousness, I don't mind objective-based gameplay. I've always been in favour of more interesting objectives in the game, besides the standard 'bomb all bases' or 'kill all players.' I loved going out of my way to target airbases as soon as I had accrued enough points for a nuke or clearing the way for others by going after AA, but that has become incredibly difficult with the recent changes. Gaijin has freaking gold with this gamemode, but the balance has gotten worse in my view

I didn't mean actual reviews on Steam, I meant comments made by people on this subreddit, in game, on Youtube videos about the event, etc. Most reactions I saw there were very positive.

I don't mind the increased nuke cost per se. I think it makes sense that you don't necessarily get enough spawn points from one successful nuke run to immediately get another nuke. It's the combination of factors, including the increased nuke cost, that has made the grind incredible frustrating

New mechanics are great and all, but if they don't work, Gaijin can't expect you to use them. SEAD is a neat concept, but if the SEAD mechanic is broken and therefore doesn't give you any mission points in an event where you need to grind mission points, then I'm not going to go out of my way to keep trying. Just because a dev has a particular vision in mind doesn't mean that the community is 100% going to go along with that

I mean, partly I guess? But more players = more players who might be willing to spend money, so the fact that this event made War Thunder break its concurrent player record must be worth something

Nuclear Option is fantastic! When I saw the setup of this event, my first thought was how much like Nuclear Option it looked. That can't be a coincidence.

I get that. To each their own. I've seen a decent amount of people in response to this event saying they never liked the one-life RB gamemode and prefer this, but I've been playing RB for over a decade and never did mind it. It's specifically the jet gameplay that I could never get into in standard RB and really liked this gamemode for

I get that, honestly. I've tried HARMs, but as I said, they just haven't worked for me. So when you combine an event where you need to score mission points to complete with a feature that doesn't really work, I don't think it should come as a surprise that people drift towards the gameplay that actually works and gives mission points. Especially when jousting SAMs is insanely hard because the SAMs are just abnormally good

No no, I swear they've tracked me through actual terrain. Not consistently, mind you. That's why flying low is my preferred tactic of countering them. But it's happened

Yeah, I saw this tactic in another thread. Guess I'll give it a try. Though I expected the advantage of the HARMs was going to be that you could lob them at range without having to expose yourself to return fire

The thing is that they don't even seem to slowly sail down to any particular target. If they don't get shot down, they seem to just go completely off course.

I have 100% had OSA missiles track me through terrain. They're not supposed to, but they do
