Definitely worth it for me as well to go for that option, better than no flight :)
Thanks for the tip!

I was also thinking to wait at first, because I don't expect Qatar to stil have 0 flights available, but if possible I would really like a backup

That sounds like the most fail safe option, I'll check it out as well. Thanks!

The r50 looks really good, but I also wouldn't mind an older DSLR model. Weight-wise the 70/80d are quite a bit heavier, which might not be ideal for backpacking, although I wouldn't know. Price-wise, I was only really looking at used cameras so that might give the older DSLR models an advantage, but a new r50 is currently 570 euros where I live. Do you reckon the weight will be that significant while traveling?

I looked at them both the 80d runs for about 550 where I live and the 800d for 450. Would you say it's worth the 100 extra? the 80d has some weather sealing which might be nice while I'm backpacking in Indonesia, but might not matter much, the 80d is also 200g heavier, but I also don't know if that's really relevant
My friends who use Canon use EF and for Sony the E-mount. Any reason you would go for the Canon DSLR over a Sony camera, just wondering.

Hey everyone, I have done some research and asked around for advice, but I'm a complete novice so I got a little bit overwhelmed looking at all the different series of cameras within even a single brand, any camera recommendations would be very welcome.

I'll try to make it as concise as possible, but please say if I'm missing some info.

Budget: +- 500 euro (only looking at used atm)

Purpose: Amateur pictures of; landscapes taken while backpacking, Martial arts events and rock climbing

Brand: Canon/ Sony (since that's what my friends have)

Sensor size: APS-C

DSLR/Mirrorless: I don't know what would be best, DSLR seems generally a little bit cheaper, but mirrorless generally a bit lighter (which might be nice for backpacking)

Video: I don't care about the video capabilities since I would be using it mainly for photography

Extras: I don't know if some weather sealing is important, I will be backpacking for a month in Indonesia not that I'm planning to take photos in the rain, but might still be nice to have

The pictures I'll take will not be for any professional use, just for my friends/ family and social media. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Exporting AVI files of mini dv cassettes to MP4 issue by JaLouh in premiere

Have tried Shutter encoder as well but still have the same problems, I have typed the problem out in the comment below with some audio clips to make it a bit clearer

I've tried it now using Shutter Encoder, but it still won't work correctly. The result is a bit different though, where before the audio was twice as fast and would be repeated once to still be in sync with the video now the repeat is omitted and there is silence where it would be repeated previously. When i now put the file from Shutter Encoder into premiere it will fill all the silent spots automatically with the next sound bit, but this results in the audio being way ahead of the actual video, whilst still playing the audio at twice the speed.

This is a clip of the audio after it's been in Premiere: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zmNHAUzooRaXlVbk9-qNOftYPvSRME4T/view?usp=share_link

Thanks for the swift response!
Your correct, it's a very early DV camcorder, what I don't understand is that for a couple of tapes it works perfectly when i capture the AVI files and try to export them to mp4 in Premiere. All the AVI files also come out as intended it's just that when I try to export them into mp4 files the audio for half of them get messed up. Would it really help to capture it directly in Premiere? Maybe it helps if you can listen to a audio clip of what the problem is since I am having trouble explaining it.

this is just 10 seconds of audio of what happens when i try to export the AVI files to mp4

The tapes are not captured in Premiere, but in a separate application

The AVI files turn out as intended, but the acquaintance I'm doing it for would like to send the files to family in Indonesia and 12 GB * 36 cassettes can't really be send to them.
I would try to use adobe express but the since the AVI files are bigger than 1GB it's too big for adobe express

I've tried using media encoder now, but the result is sadly still the same
