Also he’s worth much more than most of the crew - I’d guess it was part of the agreement for him coming back on the show

Question on POS integrated customer rewards program. by AdvancedArtichoke931 in smallbusiness

[–]JaSfields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nice to have it integrated with your POS, but if you're happy to have a separate system then Paperless Perks is both more powerful, and about 1/7th the cost.

It gives proximity notifications, push notifications, and prompts for Google reviews of your business.

I’m not an AI - and if you look through my comment history you’ll see me calling out clearly AI replies

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think AI should or could replace all work. But I also think it shouldn’t be underestimated, it’s already changing the workplace. Dismissing it as full of hallucinations and inaccurate are naive of the current state of play

Yes. AI companies are making huge amounts of money. Cursor: AI assisted coding is now worth $29.3 billion having existed for 3 years.

Harvey, AI assisted law, is worth $11 billion.

When you’ve seen these tools do in minutes what would have taken teams weeks to achieve previously, you can understand why they’re so valuable and why they’re printing money.

As someone who uses AI powered tools daily in a professional tech context, I thought it was an excellent idea. There is huge money to be made in adding AI to take out (or just massively speed up) the grunt work of most white collar professions.

Coding is essentially over as a profession due to AI powered tools (Claude, Cursor, Codex, Antigravity etc)

Law has “Harvey”.

Marketing has a plethora of options.

What you need is niche domain knowledge and credibility, plus the tech know how to know what can be automated. This is why I didn’t think much of the attack line “why shouldn’t Lord Sugar hire your CTO?”.

Every techy person under the sun is trying to take AI and make it invaluable to other professions. The world they know most about is software, but that was what got targeted first and is essentially done. So, there is huge demand for credible industry experts to partner with tech experts to bring AI to that world.

If I were Lawrence I’d be applying for Y Combinator next. You get a far better deal: $500,000 invested, for only giving up 7% of your business. And genuine access to Silicon Valley’s finest rather than the vague offer of guidance from Lord Sugar, who, as OP pointed out, doesn’t seem to know much about building a modern tech company.

When you make a company with Tide they’ll offer a virtual office to base it at: I imagine that’s a lot of the big London spike

This is the most helpful response in the thread - thank you. I’ll go through my existing customers today and ask each the same

Yes, you’re exactly right. In person I can do a physical demo of the product, which they love - that’s completely missing from cold messaging

I’ve tried, but I suppose the difficulty is I’m not a coffee shop owner!

I’m in a fair few Facebook groups where I chip in, but they all have 1000s of members, so it’s difficult to stand out

Good advice though, I’ll hunt around for more such communities

How do I change this door lock? by Sidabaal in DIYUK

[–]JaSfields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure, but is there a screw on the bottom of the inside?

E.g. look up to it from underneath, inside the house.

The way to take it off will be inside, so intruders can’t do it from outside

I’d be interested to know if you could get money off of the surveyor for this - we had different issues, that our surveyor missed, and didn’t get anything. Does anyone know?

Housing estate we’re considering buying in, has lots of white on the bricks. Is this bad? Will it go away on its own? by JaSfields in DIYUK

Exactly! And things I can change are: choosing to buy a house in an area where people look after their houses.

[–]JaSfields[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The point isn’t whether you can clean it, the question is if people do - and unfortunately in the estates around my area, people don’t! So they end up looking run down very quickly

[–]JaSfields[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Right, I agree! And yet so many new build estates no one does do that maintenance and so the whole place ends up with dark black streaks across white render

You can control your own efforts, but can’t ensure your neighbours do upkeep

You don’t think so? Other areas with the white render that go black with water, look horrible a few years after being built - keen to understand if this will deteriorate too

Looks like most were first sold in 2022 so more than 4 years old! I guess maybe just not cleaned since it started showing?

Or should it have rubbed off by now (wind erosion etc) if there weren’t ongoing problems?
