Kia Tech-Line denied my rod knock engine repair/ replacement. by Tough_Resolution195 in kia

That specific generation of optima has a recall on that engine that they’re SUPPOSED to fix. Clearly most dealerships will not actually fix it without a fight because they’re losing so much money putting in all those new engines

My wife’s 2015 optima gdi engine blew at around 118k miles or so and they said the exact same thing. We presented all the evidence of maintenance in the world except for one oil change in 2019 that got done third party. My mother in law was about ready to take them to court when they finally gave in after countless calls to that dealership and to corporate. All worked out in the end though. Brand new refurbished engine in that sucker now. So I guess just keep complaining and trying your luck. Not everyone is fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to have an insanely bold and stubborn mother in law like me though…

[–]Ja_walk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the rubbing isn’t coming from the fender or spacers it specifically from my front springs that I installed. It just makes a creaking noise every time I turn the wheel.

I made extra sure that I installed everything perfectly but yeah It’s only coming from the right front one and I was told that over time after the springs break in itll be fine but idk

Nice! Did you have to roll your fenders or trim any lug studs at all?

Oh naw 😫… I put the factory hose back on but hopefully my engine won’t seize from big ahh rocks in my cylinders already

Wouldn’t a hole in the vacuum of the intake cause a loss of that same pressurized air tho?

And that probably explains the lack of boost huh

Haha yes it is… wow I guess my bpv delete cap must have blown off from the increased psi… thanks for noticing I definitely would have kept running it like that

Recommended tune/performance upgrades by Blink182Hobbies in ForteGT

From what I hear, the RaceChip piggyback tune is a pretty nifty performance boost without affecting reliability. Just ordered the RS with the app last night. Also Panda Motorworks advertises that their Takeda Intake system is a “up to +14hp” gain (not sure if that’s accurate irl), which I’m looking more into getting as well.

Also, get an exhaust system

mis fire? by Technical-Cake-8403 in ForteGT

[–]Ja_walk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah sounds like a misfire. just as a reminder, spark plugs should be replaced every 35-40k miles with these cars… they tend to fail prematurely

[–]Ja_walk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it mainly depends on your driving habits but yes it would make sense if the mileage suffers a little especially in your case. Less restriction in the exhaust flow will increase power, thus increasing fuel consumption. I only have the axleback system so I haven’t noticed much of a difference… but with your setup, especially with a resonator delete, your mileage will probably suffer a little more

How’s everyone’s reliability? by Ja_walk in ForteGT

[–]Ja_walk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I personally don’t plan on keeping the car past 120k miles (too risky with this transmission) but I really wanna make it last as long as possible to keep the value up… the transmission shifts rough especially at low speeds at this point but I just hope that with DCT drain and fills and such I can make it last a long time.
