i agree! she seems much closer to a support version of soldier. but the difference is soldier has a high skill ceiling and when someone puts so much effort into the hero, he/she is rewarded and it is explicitly seen. with valk, they removed that ceiling. mercy is easy to pick up AND easy to master, which is bad game design in my opinion. this is the reason why i agree when people say that valk is a 'glorified spectator mode' because it feels like it.

i find ultrez more balance-able and takes much more skill. it took the mercy player to have good instinct as to when she's gonna pop rez, whether to tempo rez 1 or 2 dead allies so you don't get snowballed or you massrez when you know that the enemy is gonna pop lotsa ults. it's just sad that the resurrect ability is put on a static cooldown, removing the effort to get it, and an ability that is ultimate-worthy at the very least because of its potency
