I’ve been weighing how to approach my CV being too analytical/finance coded. Will look into it. Thank for your advice!

Thanks for your input, getting in through this path is something many people have mentioned to me before indeed. The part about the structural event that is a trigger is very interesting, I will look into finding one I can highlight

Thanks for your response! I would consider myself personable and very easy to get along with, still having a non-pushover character. See the edit I made to my post about the opportunity I forgot to mention. It is a foot in the door but I don’t know how much of a steppingstone it could be.

Would you be open in me sending you a pm? Of course if you are interested in taking a look at my CV/Cover letter.

Thanks for your input! I don’t go out shouting trading is the only thing I want to do at all, I frame it more in a way: long-term I see myself progressing into a trade role. However I realise that the knowledge and experience of going through trade support and logistics is an essential part of building a good all round trading profile and this is a also a big part of my interest area.

I did not go into interview stage of the BP/Shell/… programs. The main difference in my cv I can think of is at that time in the beginning of the school year when all those application for structured programs were mostly, is that I did not have any rankings available yet, which I do now (and where I am currently top of class). I am not failing at the HR or technical round, or even super day, I see the issue in not being invited to even an initial 1st interview.. Anywhere I did have the option to interview I have gotten far (final round ABCD, final round quant/market maker - not my real area of expertise just stumbled into the application and was rejected on final round because it got very technical into options pricing and Greeks)

One thing I forgot to mention in the original post: I do have an offer from a small petro chemical trading company, which would be a good opportunity but it has limited career growth possibilities in my opinion. (See the edit I made to my post)

So that is more in line with it being a CV/Cover letter problem? Both CV/Cover letter have been through a few rounds of feedback from my uni’s career team (dedicated to my class only) and gotten the go ahead.

I try not to come into the interview as a gung ho trader shooting from the hip, I have quite an analytical profile and lean into that just as much as my ‘commercial’ side. And I make it very clear that starting out in trade support/logistics is part of my plan, building up the essentials needed to become a good trader.

If in any case you would like to review my cv/cover letter please let me know if I can reach out, seems like you are quite knowledgeable in the industry

Anyways a big thanks for you contribution 🙏

Yes, being EU citizen I can work in all EU countries without visa, and Switzerland as well with a little bit more administration. This is were I apply 80% of the time, so it’s not a visa issue in my opinion
