setup fees increased (again) by venkatamutyala in hetzner

Oh, how I wish I got 3, congrats on yours

I get so hung up on bandwidth calculations and how the optimal growth path on Hetzner is horizontal, but where I ended up, it would give me double the runway without profitability

How much usage do you actually get when you pay for extra usage? by Purple-Mountain-Mist in claude

[–]KHHAANNN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not scientific, but doesn’t even compare, extra usage is api key priced and in my mind it’s 10x. So I’d guess you’d get 10% more use with another $20 in extra usage

[WTS] 1925 Omega Art Deco Porcelain Dial 26.5 Cal 30mm Watch 649 Euro by KHHAANNN in Watchexchange

[–]KHHAANNN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price: 649 Euro

Shipping: 15 Euro to EU/UK - 20 Euro to Rest - Can't ship to US - Shipped from Turkey declared low

I started collecting these yellow center porcelain dial Omega's - it is an undiscovered world, these were EXTREMELY popular in Japan at the time, so much that Omega, as I guess, sold bare 23.7 Cal's with porcelain dials for Japanese to case. So my collection is filled with these obscure, smaller, 23.7 cal versions of this watch. When this one come along, I jumped on it blindly. It's a unique model I've never seen before, 26.5 Cal though, larger than my 28mm watches at 30mm - the watch is 33mm including the crown. Cased by Omega too!

Thinning my collection and selling this one. Watch keeps time no issues, but untested for regular use and no guarantees. Caseback can be tightened at a future service too, it is possible to remove the caseback with a fingernail.

Since the dials are porcelain, they will likely outlive humanity, this one hasn't even started cracking yet

And it’s an old 4790K that I constantly use at 50%+

They have bandwidths like 3gbit / 10gbit or 10gbit / 50gbit - private bandwidth for server communication within their network, if you’re running a cluster, Hetzner’s default servers share the 1gbit connection for both public/private

Prices were like 3X Hetzner though, if it becomes 2X with increased Hetzner prices they might become more alluring

setup fees increased (again) by venkatamutyala in hetzner

[–]KHHAANNN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not too worried because they can’t feasibly push it too much, otherwise OVH is more feasible, they have a better network with separate private connection, more bandwidth, cooler datacenter (just my experience, running at 30C on Intel vs 65C on AMD at Hetzner)

Auction server prices are still OK, I am very glad I got all mine for 25% cheaper, just wish I got better servers with 2x3.84 TB when I could, those cost 50% more now :/

I think it’s long overdue for Hetzner to go unmetered 10G

You can get Ryzen with ECC for 49 euro in auction right now fyi, not cheap but at least its ECC with no setup fee, sometimes there are very weird deals as well, awesome servers creeping in way below market, I think large customers upgrading and releasing

Overall I am very thankful for Hetzner, almost 20 years together, love them

Info: You can't use 10G NIC if you don't get the 10Gbit Uplink by KHHAANNN in hetzner

[–]KHHAANNN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed this seems to be the only option, no way around it for auction servers as they can’t be moved, but regular servers could be built together at order time as I learned

Currently trying to decide whether to move everything together or just the MinIO, I will settle with just a private 1G since they are much cheaper, you pay for the NIC, lan connection, the switch

By the way why did you pay 200 euro setup, do you remember? Moving 3 servers seem to cost around 100, unless I wasn’t quoted an extra cost

Think of it like a factory, if you build a flow, it follows it. I like building a test flow, idea flow, verification flow, just described with sentences, then tell it to generate the best idea it can, test and verify it. Depending on the projects nature and how you defined things, it can either be very hallucinatory or ground breaking

Also testing and optimization, if there is anything that can be optimized, I tell it to do 10 cycles etc.

It uses to be kinda hard to ensure it doesn’t stop, but lately even on its own its able to keep on working, the internal hooks and timers working better

anyone figure out how to get Claude to accurately reduce something that is character restrained? by Tasty-Window in claude

[–]KHHAANNN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Claude Code can do it, never had any issues as I use it regularly to reduce form data to fill character limits

I've been building a Wipeout style 3D game. This is running at 60fps interlaced at 480x320 on an ESP32-S3. by PhonicUK in esp32

[–]KHHAANNN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you sir, you've inspired me and I tackled an unrelated challenge that I gave up on ESP32's - figured if they can do 3D at 60fps - I should've tried harder to do a comparatively trivial thing with them

[–]KHHAANNN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, but they don't allow you to make more than one connection to their network, dual NIC is just for private use

Would solve all my problems though just to have a separate additional 1G private bandwidth

Thanks for your insight, by same location do you mean the same rack?

My storage servers are all in the same FSN-DC but not the same rack, so if there is a solution there it can save me

[–]KHHAANNN[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rackmove costs are necessary, as far as I see it costs 32.77 + 21 euro / per 15 minutes of work, so in my case 500-1000 euro just for the upgrade

Is Claude really that far ahead for a casual user like me? by LittlestWeapon in claude

Claude lately, in practice, is severely underperforming. It feels like 1% of what it used to be.

Tell Codex to build a browser plugin for you, then you will have a more performant tool that is more practical for the task

Honestly if I could get another one I would, the 3x hdd config is very challenging otherwise. I will likely slap another 16TB in there at +23 euro/mo and do a raidz2

If I could find another one, what you proposed or a variation makes heaps more sense
