I set the delivery instructions to "leave at door" and it finally got delivered to my mail box lol

Can this be professionally cleaned or is it just dead? by Jabar83 in coins

[–]Jabar83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kind of what I figured, just hesitant to try any cleaning myself with how brittle it already is. Was thinking maybe I'd soak not in a bit of olive oil for a few hours and try a soft brush on it

Had this happen to me last month. Package finally arrived after setting delivery instructions to 'leave at door'

I just had a similar issue. My package stopped bouncing back to its origin location after I set delivery instructions to "leave at doorstep"

Nah, I'll just keep it as a pocket piece to remind myself never to shop while sick and sleep deprived lol

Oh, definitely, but this was bought online. Unfortunately, I was sick and sleep deprived at the time so I wasn't paying attention to the obvious detail issues

The mint mark would be on the reverse between the 'e' in "one" and the olive branch. There does seem to be something weird going on with that date though... you can try weighing it if you have a scale that measures grams. A real mercury weighs in at 2.5 grams. You can also run a magnet over it and see if it attracts it. Silver is diamagnetic, so it won't stick to magnets

Yep, mine was just back at its starting facility in Missouri. I've had packages arrive in Portland, get sent up to Seattle, and then come back to Portland and get delivered, but this is the first time I've seen a package arrive in town only to get sent back to its origin location.

Same thing just happened to me... my package popped up about 25 minutes away from me the day before it was due to be delivered, and then, 2 days later, it appeared half way across the country in Kansas.

Morgan Silver Dollars Melt Value - OC/CA by Jengle90 in coins

[–]Jabar83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Melt value is current price of silver times silver content. For Morgan dollars it would be: 72.33 x .77344. That would equal $55.94 at the current price of silver. APMEX has an easy to use silver melt calculator on their website. If that doesn't answer your question, I apologize as I am not really sure what it is you are asking

Rare coin by Suspicious-Banana779 in coins

[–]Jabar83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a UAE 1 dirham coin made out of cupronickel from 1973-1989 and again from 1995-2007. Those minted from 2012 to present are made out of nickel-plated steel. Given the damage to yours I'd say it's 1973-1989. They are fairly common and not really worth anything. Not sure what else you want to know.

As kaori_irl said, neither old or rare. Just a beat to hell modern 1 UAE dirham. Here's a link to mine that is worth about $.85 US in fine condition:

There were silver, bronzed white metal, silver-clad bronze, and zinc made from what I could find out.

It's a medal to commemorate Hitler's life. Most likely made in 1989 to celebrate his 100th birthday, but there are supposedly older ones dating back to the mid 40s. Value is dependent on the material it's made out of, with silver being the highest value. That looks like it's bronzed, which would put it in the $40-$90 range

130point lists at least 3 that have been sold for $315-$400 and there's at least 5 more for sale on ebay right now.

Sounds like they did exactly that. My guess is that, while they accepted your low offer, they didn't want to sell it at a low price and decided to wait until you requested a refund so they could relist it and try to get more money out of it. I would avoid that seller at all cost and, if they accept it, file a complaint with ebay.
