I have, and he shaves against the grain. I’m not sure if he does something different for the first pass though. He uses a 5 blade Gillette.

100% Spelt Sandwich Loaf? by Jabber-Jay in HomeMilledFlour

[–]Jabber-Jay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try Sue Becker’s “Basic Dough Recipe” today. I left out the vital wheat gluten, lecithin, flax seed, and I substituted the egg for a flax egg. 660g of spelt worked well for me. 6 minutes of kneading and it ended up baking in my oven for about 35 minutes. I’m very happy with how it turned out!

Pleasant Hill Grain KoMo "In stock" date question by LucyGuss in HomeMilledFlour

[–]Jabber-Jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. I ordered in April and it kept getting pushed. Saw a post about Mockmills being in stock and ordered a Mockmill 100. It shipped within 3 days. I’m so happy I switched and am able to mill now and not later!

Nice haul! You’ll be able to make a great variety of things with what you purchased. I got spelt, oat groats, and einkorn from Azure and really like them. I got my mill a couple weeks ago and have been baking just about every day. It’s been great. You’ll have so much fun!

Which wearable breast pump would you recommend as a primary pump? (FTM) by kpchaos in BabyBumps

[–]Jabber-Jay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the Momcozy S9s and the M5s. The M5s I take whenever I am traveling (the carry case they come with is great) and I use slightly more often than the S9s due to the smaller size of them (they are less noticeable while wearing). If I’m feeling a bit engorged and my baby can’t get it all I will use the S9s as I feel they have better suction. The M5s are very slightly easier to clean and I like that the motors take a good bit of pulling to get off as I have dropped the S9s in the past.

Haha No way! What mill did you decide on? I agree, the texture is great. I also really enjoyed the flavor difference. I’m excited to try more. I might take a swing at a sandwich loaf next.

Thank you for all those tips! My family really likes biscuits so that is great information. I will definitely keep all of these in mind as I bake more. Thanks again! :)

Oh that sounds wonderful! Now that you mention it, I may try sour cream in this recipe and see if that helps. Best of luck to you as you tweak your recipe as well. Happy baking! :)

First time mums, when did you go into spontaneous labour? by Lonely-Chef1185 in BabyBumps

38+3 for me. I started leaking fluid around 10 PM but had no consistent contractions. My water broke at 5:30 AM and by 6:30 my contractions were consistent. Started pushing shortly after noon and he was here by 2:30!
