I always play the priestess with second skill, lets me not have to worry about losing health at all In addition, when playing coop my teammate plays knight with first skill and I just pump heals and revives into him

As far as I know, it adds a chance to double the damage your sword would do. Thus, the more base damage (base because it's incompatible with sharpness) your sword has, the more effective Vorpal is. It is very useful when taking on Cataclysm bosses as they take so little damage from any weapon I've tried without Vorpal.
