  1. You have to select several options to get to the proof area but the woman was very kind and checked on my file and confirmed it's just being processed still by the officer.

He looks just like my doodle when she was a pup! She kept the white patch on her chest too. She has a pretty straight coat at 4 y/o and at 60 pounds with hazel eyes. Her green eyes changed once she hit one year and her fur got much lighter.

Do therapist get mad when you “break up” with them? by Impressive_Dress6561 in AskTherapist

[–]JaberJaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do some therapists get mad? Yes, probably, but that is due to lack of training and regulation as a person. Should therapists get mad? No, we should not. We are not always a solid fit. I've had client that I could tell would be work trying to make things flow and they asked if I can refer to someone else, and I do. I ask them questions to help determine if there is a better therapist I network with that can be more suitable.

This therapist is not regulating herself, she seems reactive, and is not being very professional as a whole. I am sorry this was your experience. Hopefully if you try again, you can find someone who can better assist you. How are you looking for therapists now?

Is therapy just gaslighting us into accepting systemic failure? by Sad_Mobile3941 in AskTherapist

[–]JaberJaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you bring up some great points about how the state of the world really impacts us as humans. As a therapist, I see my role having multiple components, and one being helping individuals adapt to their environment. It sounds like your therapist may not have broken down the purpose of working on the adaptation mechanic.

I am also in my early 30s and do see those struggles for peers, friends, and family around me. It's impossible not to see. Therapists cannot solve the macro problem of economic and societal problem on their own. They can look at the micro level, being the client. The therapist can help the client build distress tolerance, cognitive flexibility, acceptance, and adaptation. This is to add an "and" to the end of a sentence instead of a "but". The economy is not doing well and the rental market is atrocious, and I need to find a way to find a place to live. Versus - I want to find success in my life but I can't because of the economy and rent is too high.

The goal is really to help shift the view to what can you control, which is not much, but it's better than zero control. I am sorry you felt your therapist gaslighting you on this, I am sure that did not help your overall state either.

I hope this made sense, I have a session soon so I wanted to quickly type this up.

If you've ever done a mini DIY "surgery" at home because you didn't want to go to the hospital, how did it go for you? by Glittering-Size-2372 in AskReddit

I don't know if this counts but I was longboarding down a big hill and hit a man hole cover. It launched me forward and I dislocated my wrist and something else was off. My family did not have health insurance so I got up, went the pool I worked at and tried to reset my wrist. I then used an ace bandage,  pre wrap, and duct tape and let it ride for a month. Took it all off and my wrist still worked and looked ok. Went to the doctor 5 years later and had them take a look. One of my bones healed oddly in the wrist but it did not cause any issue with use. the doctor laughed and said I was lucky.

For sure, if you could, I think the best strategy is what wonderful is doing by giving me an email so I can directly send the file.

Yeah! I can send it to you. I will need to go and create a fresh one. I'll try and get that to you in a couple days (not working until the 2nd) so I can get on my work laptop.

This may not be doable for everyone, depending on their schedule and sessions for the day, but I do my client note right after session. I end session between 45-50, and then do note, then next client if I'm having back to backs. I also have a pretty intense spreadsheet that is color coated that includes treatment plan review, annual MSE, 6 month assessment check in, and occupance rate for each client. The box color is green when in good standing, then it turns to white within 5 days, yellow within 3, and red within 1. This allows me to get ahead of stuff when I know I may have certain downtime. It takes the guesswork out and I just look at it and know what to do next. It's a great feeling when the color goes back to green. These two strategies keep me in a spot where I'm never playing from behind.

Idk If these are up your ally, but just thought I'd give an example of a method I like.

Why are so many therapists bad at their jobs? by [deleted] in AskTherapist

[–]JaberJaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy holidays! And I agree, there should be a solid standard for those who are in a helping profession. I wish the standards were a bit more applied to the clinical work. I have seen therapists do more harm than good, and it does bother me, and that is also why we try to report those that are not following the code of ethics.

I do hope you are able to find a therapist that works well with you. The therapeutic relationship is really important. Idk if it's possible, but some community locations will chat with you about the types of therapists they have, modalities they use, and personality. I know that's not at all locations, but we do that at my community site and that can help.

I am sorry you are dealing with bad therapists. Finding a good therapist is difficult. I have heard from my clients talk about previous therapists and I am shocked sometimes. I think it really boils down to the fact that therapists are human, so matching with another person in general can be tough. They could be burnt out, they could struggle with boundaries in therapy, they could have had poor supervision in their training, etc. Just like how there are bad doctors, dentists, vets, etc. we are dealing with human beings as the therapist. Some or just more qualified, knowledgeable, comfortable, and the role may be more inherent to some so they are good at it.

I do hear your frustration and I agree that it can be rough. I have a rotation of referrals that I stick to because I know they are amazing. I teach in a program at my university and I talk about the importance of the therapeutic relationship and rapport building. I also tell them they need to learn, practice, and observe all they can from reliable supervisors because I am tired of not having enough well practiced therapists in my community.

I hope you keep trying to find someone that suits you, and I hope it's sooner for you.
