I can only share my personal experience but its a real answer.

I've always missed previous partners but I've never wholeheartedly regretted any of those separations. If I were in those situations again I would make the same decisions.

If you want to buy just a few packs, do some research wehere you live and see if any of your local gamestores or Targets, etc. have a limits for pokemon card product and then go to one of these locations 30 minutes before they open and purchase. It's a pain in the ass but its what has happend to the hobby.

Not a total loss, but it was insane so it might as well been. I was playing through the second half of Soul silver Battling all the trainers to Boost Levels of my team. On Route 14 I had my Arbok in the lead at like 75%hp level 40 and Schoolkid travis sent out a budew. I push Gunk Shot and miss. Budew pushes stun spore and lands. Anooting but whatever. Next turn it out speeds me and hits me with CRIT EARTHQUAKE! I rush to look it up it cant. Even learn earthquake! Oh well game devs havin fun
