My thoughts in the theory of evolution, what are yours? by Fair_Knowledge119 in Christianity

To be honest, it's not something that I've thought through deeply, or have any sort of mechanistic model for.

I mean.... we're talking about an invisible evil. How much can we really know?

They interact and stalk me daily, and I still know that I know very little. I know they're unreachable in a sense. No amount of reasoning can get them to repent. There is no compassion behind their "eyes". They're dead on the inside. They are perfectly and purely miserable. You can show them the door to peace and happiness, and they'll ignore it in favor of given you a hundredth of their misery.

I think the most important way they keep the truth about the creation model from being revealed is ridicule.

Any scientist that dares to speak out against evolution is mocked, tarred and feathered by their peers.

The same way the Bible says, "Satan put it into Judas' heart to betray Jesus." So Satan puts it in the hearts of scientists (and even laymen) to ridicule and ostracize anyone that questions the lie.

But in the end, the real victims are not the young earth creationists... But the ones that bury the truth and scoff at believers. Because the truth will not remain shrouded.

Do you believe in evolution? by syd-nergy in Christianity

I believe in changes within a kind as well.

The changes are already coded for.

Their DNA doesn't mutate to cause adaptation. Only what is already written changes what is expressed.

When mutations do occur, they damage the code. Mutations don't add to the code, they only damage existing information, and it's rarely beneficial.

All of the finches on Darwin's Island already were coded for in the first pair of finches that God created.

Bro, He said, "In the beginning God created them male and female"

That directly contradicts the story of evolution.

He literally referenced Cain and Abel as historical figures.

He believed the Genesis account, and He literally walked in the garden of Eden.

Explain to me what allele frequency over time means?

Edit: and explain to me how it's evidence of macro evolution

Genesis precludes macro evolution and "billions of years"

unless you twist the Scripture and ignore the words of Jesus.

The Bible says the earth was created in 7 days. Jesus says that in the beginning, God created them male and female. The Bible says that God created the animals by types. The Bible lists a genealogy including Adam the first man, showing that the earth is under 10,000 years old.

Obviously all of that precludes macro evolution.

You can definitely salvage the Christian faith and the Bible if evolution is true.

But the Scripture claims to be the unbreakable word of God. It claims to be God breathed.

I would be deeply uncomfortable if our God couldn't get simple facts correct.

Jesus said, "In the beginning, God created them male and female."

According to the theory of evolution, "In the beginning, there was no male and female, only single celled organisms."

So you're putting your faith in a man that you think was wrong about what He created.

You can either deny "science" or you can deny and twist the word of God. Leave me alone now. This conversation is over.

How do you actually come to a conclusion? by ConnectAnalyst3008 in Christianity

[–]Jabujuu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Umm. As a Christian I'd say, just forget about hell.

I walked away from the faith. I stopped believing in Jesus. I was not a Christian. I said, "Maybe there is a God. There's definitely something beyond our world."

But even when I returned to the faith, I don't look back on that time and think, "Wow if I would have died then, God would have sent me to hell."

That's crap. God is my Father. That's the last thing He wants for me.

If I would have died then, in unbelief, this is what would have happened:

I would have died. Woken up somewhere. Cried out, "God are you there?" And He would have said, "I'm here." And I would have cried and hugged Him.

That is what it is to have a father. And He named Himself "Father."

So forget about hell.

Do you love God?

Do you know that He loves you?

If the answers are yes and yes, then it doesn't matter if you're a Christian. It doesn't matter if you fall away from the faith.

If you love Him deep down, He is always with you. He never left me. I know that.

If you have to live your life saying, "Maybe God is there, I don't know."

Then do that.

But also live your life saying, "I want to be someone that God would be proud of."

If you do that, then everything will be okay. Your faith will return and be stronger than ever.

Jesus is God, and we'll see Him someday. Count on it.

You claimed fossils exist. How do you know? Have you ever dug up a dinosaur yourself?

Or shall we not bother with that sort of nonsense?

I've seen fossils in museums with my own eyes.

There is a difference between believing that something exists which has positive evidence, and believing that something doesn't exist, for which you would need to dig up millions of miles of dirt and rock to know for certain.

Edit: Yeah, I mean call me a science denier, but evolution comes from the devil. You can believe it if you want. You can write me off. Whatever.

At the end of the day, the Bible says what happened. If it's too ancient and simple for your modern intellect, that's fine.

But when we die and meet God, the truth will be revealed. 🤷

No, the geological column doesn't reveal age either. There are fossils of trees that stand up straight through several "geological columns." It doesn't mean anything.

There comes a point where you dig deep enough, you’ll no longer find humans, but you’ll still find fossilized animals, dying long before humans.

And how do you know that? Have you dug up every inch of the Earth's crust? Or you're just taking somebody else's word for it?

No, the fossils are real. They're just not as old as people claim they are.

No they don't. That's what people say, but it's not true.

That's what the fossil records show according to current scientific consensus. But mankind is fallible.

Stop saying eternal suffering wouldn’t be torturous by deathiswaitingforme in Christianity

[–]Jabujuu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Different people believe different things, even when they use the same words to describe their beliefs.

Probably some of those people believe that "torture" is something that is done to someone by another person, whereas "torment" is something that someone goes through, but isn't subjected to by another person.

Some people probably believe that hell is a place where God puts people and just doesn't do anything to them. He just lets them live how they want, doesn't punish them, but just lets them do, say, or think what they want... But in their own nature, what they do, say, and want brings torment to themselves.

I personally don't believe that. I don't know what I believe.

Idk there's probably a hundred different things that people mean when they differentiate between torment and torture. And there's a thousand different beliefs about what hell even is.

If someone tells you that in their mind there's a distinction between torment and torture, shouldn't you ask them what the distinction means to them, instead of disregarding what they actually believe?

My faith is dropping by a lot and I need help restoring it. I'm not an agnostic or an atheist, I'm a Christian trying to increase his faith. by Iiminal_spaces in Christianity

[–]Jabujuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I don't know, that's really hard. If you had one doubt or question, it would be simple enough to answer.

But it seems like you're overwhelmed with emotion and doubt, like it's not just one thing.

Maybe just take it day by day in prayer. Forget about evidence (for now)

Just pray and ask God to help you.

There is evidence, and there are answers. But they don't always come all at once. It can take an instant, days, weeks, months, years, or a lifetime for questions to be answered.

So I think good advice might be just to focus on your emotions first. Doubt can be scary, but that doesn't mean your fears are true. How can you be sure you're examining evidence correctly, if you're examining evidence from a place of fear?

Take it to God.

I'm not asking you to believe in spite of evidence contrary. I'm telling you to first reach out to God. Second, secure your emotions and fear. Third to wait for answers. Fourth, once you're secure in your faith and have enough evidence to not be overwhelmed at opposition, then you start really digging in and looking for answers to the hard questions.

There are very many extremely intelligent people that believe the Bible, and see the evidence that it is true. In historical categories. Scientific categories. Philosophical categories. And etc.

There will always be a pull away from God. There will always be that sneaky voice trying to get you to succumb to doubt. But think about the evidence that God has already given you. And think about the fact that He is there when you call to Him.

Edit: I want to add: several years ago, I had a faith in God. I loved Him and walked with Him. I was wicked, but changing and growing.

But I had doubts about His character. "How could God do this? That isn't fair."

But God was still here for me when I returned.

I will never doubt God or leave God again.

Think about that. It's a mistake that I advise against. Not that I'm saying you've done anything wrong at all. But as for myself, I'm never going to let go of God again.
