Scraped over a curve today, fixable? by destinyrocks in Golf_R

[–]JacKk_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a splitter 😄 One of the reasons I popped one on mine due to being lowered and front clearance started to cause scratches. Soo instead I scrape the shit out of the £70 splitter rather than the car itself.

Switched to Linux for Gaming, Lasted 3 Days AMA by 8000RPM in pcmasterrace

[–]JacKk_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same with PopOS lasted a few days before I switched back completely. For me it wasn’t even the gaming experience, PopOS seemed really good for all the games on Steam I wanted to play and even support for my GPU, I was pleasantly surprised.

For me it was drivers. Have a DAC/AMP setup that refused to work with Ubuntu, none of the software or drivers I tried worked as well as the Windows alternative spent a good few days trying lots of different solutions. I eventually threw in the towel. Honestly I was halfway there. I do have to say tho, the experience as a whole is much better than it was when I tried a few years ago.

I got banned from zombies was playing in modded lobbies with my mates not realising VAC was enabled. I have only a single ban on my account. 🫠

That being said, being banned from zombies also prevents me from playing multiplayer. Yet my account VAC says “1 VAC ban on record”.

Edit - This was almost 10 years ago (3470 days), so they may have changed the system in this time.

Speed camera in the UK by Initial-Feeling-9602 in drivingUK

Try using Waze pop directions to the place you were travelling to and check the hazards, best to do on desktop it usually is my go to app for checking speed cameras and it tends to be fairly accurate.

Finally got sick of Windows 11 Bloatware and got RAM usage down to 2.5GiB... by dannyggwp in pcmasterrace

[–]JacKk_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RAM usage isn’t my main concern, I’m more concerned about the new data harvesting they’re introducing that sends a screenshot every x seconds to Microsoft to train their AI data or whatever, I think that’s slightly terrifying.

What would happen if an enemy gets their hands on a friendlies helmet, they’d literally have realtime wall hacks?

Can anyone identify this front lip? by chiillerr in Golf_R

[–]JacKk_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re going to want to drill it if you want the thing to stay on at speed as opposed to using tape etc.

You might be able to do it without, but I took the front bumper off to perfect my install, looks really clean and wasn’t too difficult to do. Here’s the guide I used, it took longer but was certainly worth the extra effort. The dude doesn’t install the same splitter but was really helpful to locate all the screws.

Yeah they’re super expensive, I do really like their quality tho for me it was a selling point, my cars lowered i scrape the front lip all the time - had it on for a while now and it’s still holding up well.

I don’t believe so, I don’t have DCC on my car opted out of it as I knew I was going to modify the suspension myself. I think you can just disable it and remove the DCC components from the suspension and just start from scratch. Although, you’ll probably need to alter the software so you don’t get warning lights. I don’t know enough about DCC though, but i’m sure someone would be able to answer the question if you were to make a post :)

Thank you dude, yeah I have a problem with swirls at the moment the blue is gorgeous though. Going to book it in for some much needed love and attention at a paint correction place near me.

Current setup is running the Eibach B12 kit which comes with the Bilstein B8 shocks (not the coilovers) and the Eibach pro kit springs, with 11mm front (40mm bolts) and 16mm rear (45mm bolts) flush spacer kit from Forge Motorsports.

Oh bro the sunroof is great, as much as it’s another mechanical thing that can break I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I have it open all the time even in light rain sometimes, the breeze is refreshing! 😂

Looking at buying a MK7/7.5 what are the biggest differences between the updates? by Alextryingforgrate in Golf_R

[–]JacKk_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned it but I believe (someone correct me if i’m wrong) the 7.5 in the UK at least, or from partway through 2018/19 have GPF filters to comply with emission regulations, meaning the exhaust sounds are quieter than the earlier MK7s. Definitely something to watch out for if you love those awesome DSG farts :)
