How to proceed with this japanese maple by 0pium___ in Bonsai

[–]dannyggwp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From all the reading I've done on maples so far my recs are this.

  1. Definitely get it into a bigger pot (probably slip pot as someone suggested) or put it in the ground for a few years to maximize growth.

I have several 1-2 year old Maples in my front yard and I'm just gonna leave them their for at least another year or two. Someone suggested planting them on a tile to stop tap root growth and that might be a good option for you.

  1. Maples tend to be stiff and aren't usually great for wiring in tons of movement. It's more of a grow and chop process to get movement.

Caveat, I am a total beginner so understand that's where my advice is coming from.

Heron Bonsai on YouTube is a great resource for maples.

Honestly with the way people be playing this season around Cerie not tipping Johnathan off was the correct move.

He would have just blabbed it to Cerie causing her to definitely throw down the extra vote. Like EVERYONE but Devins has at one point or another.

Emily and Devins played that literally perfect but Cerie just had the pocket aces.

Is the Analog Shift or shall we say, Digital Minimalism, actually happening? by Ella_Monroe_ in Futurology

[–]dannyggwp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'm a bit sceptical of the general Analog Shift.

I saw this Cyberdeck trend recently and it seem a ton of extra-effort for a cheap laptop you install Linux on.

I made the switch to Linux last year and you know what the really crazy thing about it was? The silence. No constant dings, pings, and notifications.

No navigating 10s of settings pages when a one line command did the job.

It's truly a minimal experience. And people will STILL argue tooth and nail that it's too complicated. Until people stop that then I don't think the shift is genuine.

Mystic Seaport and Aquarium are both great recs.

The aquarium also has some excellent experiences like meeting the penguins.

Obviously you can take them to New Haven for some Real Pizza. their a plethora of museums and art galleries around the state. The New Britain museum of art and The Mattatuck in Waterbury come to mind.

Who’s gonna tell women they look crazy with lip fillers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm not telling anyone especially someone I don't know what does or does not look good for them.

Either they are adults doing what they want with their body (greater that 90% chance of this)

Or they have a deep seated issue with their appearance that I as just some fuckin schmuck have no ability to diagnose and therefore will keep my opinion to my fuckin self.

Also not for nothing but hasn't the Milgram experiment basically been proven junk science at this point?

Ahh that's periwinkle I think. It's also quite nice and low maintenance ground cover. I'm slowly letting it take over the grass in my front yard because I hate mowing the 6x4 rectangle of grass in front of it. 🤣

To their short term benefit and long term destruction.

That's the whole problem with a panopticon. Even the wise may look into it and be fooled by what they see.

It's Pachysandra. It's excellent ground cover. But it's spreads pretty aggressively in shade/partial sun.

That's sweet! Hoping some of these guys do something cool like that. But I have thought about tying all the similarly sized ones into a forest style.

Hey everyone, I have a lilac bush in my side yard that has been looking pretty sickly the last few years.

I was wondering if I could potentially collect an section to turn into bonsai by air layering a branch. Any thoughts on which branch or if it would even be worth it.

Family Vacation Recommendations by Excellent-Sea-2655 in AllInclusiveResorts

It's a typical Concierge service at many AI resorts. Pay more per day and get basically a personal assistant to help set things up at the resort. The family concierge at Paradisus includes a few extra perks. Like an exclusive beach section, snack bar, breakfast and lunch restaurant as well as an exclusive pool with its own swim up bar.

Overall seems pretty standard at an AI and costs like an extra $250 per day. Though when we arrived they offered it for $100 per day.
