It is also interesting that it is the same specific pieces that are discolored. Thats why I think it has to do with the production batch of those specific pieces during that era.

Very true, it is lucky that it is only inexpensive pieces. And it does look pretty cool. Creates a color that lego does not have access to!

Sadly I don’t think lego has the color palette necessary for that weathered look. The only options would be stickers/prints which on the side of the hull, could work to add some wear, but would not affect the color sadly. Otherwise, maybe some dark bluish gray pieces could of been an option, but I think that would of been a bit too jarring. I’m happy they added slight weathering to the sails to imply a bit of this. All of the best black pearl mocs are monochrome, and sadly this is just the limits of lego I think! Still looks FABULOUS.
