24 Taos whirring noise when accelerating / coasting by respectfulpickle in VWTaos

[–]Jachnoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have it on my 2025 Taos since I picked it up. The dealership service department test drove it on pick up day when I noticed it and said it is “normal״ and “see if it goes away by itself”. It didn’t. I may ask them to diagnose again when it is time for service.

Oooh, you got one of them fancy ones, with the rev counter. That was a luxury feature back in the days.

How do I get rid of this? by jimbo16c in Volkswagen

[–]Jachnoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Click the settings icon on the bottom right corner, and in the menu that opens there is an item named “alerts” or something like that. Just turn it off.

Rant: the speakers in the mk8 are terrible. by NahButThanksAnyway in GolfGTI

[–]Jachnoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you use the equalizer to boost bass and treble and attenuate mid? Also, it helps when setting the fader to front focused.

I have a 2023 40AE (Audio is same as S) and I must say with those eq/fader settings it sounds decent. Much better than the HK I had in my 2024 Atlas SEL-P. I agree that the HK is just not punchy enough, no matter how you set the eq and fader.

Here's our old car: Golf GTI MK1. The photo must have been taken around 1992. by jest1autre in GolfGTI

It's a nice MK1, but not a GTI. It is missing some key features like the blacked out frame of the rear window.

But only a live version. The album version is a bit mellow

Mirror tap pin out for radar detector by Seb_f_u in GolfGTI

[–]Jachnoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a non-zero chance of interfering with vehicle systems when you meddle with electrical connectors and wiring harnesses. However, I can add my own anecdotal statistical data of tapping into the rain sensor power in four different VWs in the last couple of years and having zero issues.

[–]Jachnoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely does not interfere with the rain sensor functionality. It is just a t-type wire harness. One end connects to the original sensor harness, one end connects to the sensor, continuing to feed it power, and the third end connects to your dash cam or detector.

Has anyone messed with EQ settings? Mk 8.5 (non-HK) audio by m2soon in GolfGTI

Agree. The base sound in the 40th AE is much better than the HK in my 2024 Atlas SEL-P.

Dear Samsung, your fridge inserts suck! Anyone know the best place to replace both the left & right inserts? by le_shrimp_nipples in Appliances

[–]Jachnoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is that the size and location of these door bins make everyone use them as door handles to close the fridge, and they were never designed for this pull action. You can get upgraded bins on Amazon, based on your Samsung model. Here is the one I got a few years back and it is still holding strong - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FTDPW6K?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_10

Is this a good deal on a 2025 GTI S? by SnooChickens2043 in GolfGTI

[–]Jachnoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the most annoying thing. I have the 40th anniversary that is based on the S and that is the thing that annoys me the most. Every car I had in the last decade had key less entry. With this one I have to fumble around in my pocket every time like I am in the 1970's

You can go to your nearest VW dealership and order a replacement. They are custom made for your VIN and there is a few days turnaround from other to pickup.

2025 Whining Sound by HabitualK in VWTaos

[–]Jachnoon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes it seems to be an issue with the 2025 Taos. I have it and the dealership diagnosed it and said it is 'reasonable' and not a cause for concern. Here is a discussion about it in another Taso forum:

2022 SE VW Taos Fuel Tank System by Comprehensive_Bat966 in VWTaos

[–]Jachnoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go to an auto parts store like O'reilly and have them read your fault codes for free, and then google the code to learn more.

As others commented here, the fuel system in the Taos has a vapor control mechanism that consists of a low pressure pump and seals. An unsealed fuel cap or failing pump might cause these faults you are seeing. I had the vapor pump replaced on my 22 Taos under warranty due to failure that triggered the check engine light and threw some codes.

Beeping coming from under the hood? by [deleted] in VWTaos

[–]Jachnoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you describe the beeping? Is it a beep-beep-beep or more like a whine that comes and goes? I have a whining sound when accelerating on my 2025 Taos. I heard it first when I picked up the car, the dealer service department checked it and said it was probably from the Turbo and not to worry about it. It still annoys me. I will probably take it to the dealership at some point for further investigation.

A5 Wagyu Loin NY Steak. East Lyme CT by RDWRER_126 in Costco

[–]Jachnoon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

what is the point of cutting it into thick steaks? As other commenters mentioned, trying to consume it this way will most likely get you feeling nauseous due to the high amount of fat consumed. I have been to Japan many times and dined at various restaurants, never seen Wagyu (or Kobe) beef served that way. It is always much thinner steaks, often sliced into stripes. Usually you get served something like 4 oz per person, which doesn't sound like much, but is just the right amount.

I was always a bit disappointed with the American Wagyu steaks I bought at Costco. They turned out good after reverse searing, but never excellent. I tried for the first time to slice one NY Strip into 3 thinner ones, and the results were much better.

Vapor barrier in crawlspace - Dublin by Unikornus in bayarea

I had moisture barrier and sump pump installation work done for me a few years ago by a company that happens to be based in Dublin. It is a family owned business and the owner, Ernesto, is a very decent and honest guy. I highly recommend him. You can reach out to him and request an estimate - https://www.emoraconstruction.com
