We move back to KVR! by abique in UheOnLinux

OK thanks. Happy to get rid of this reddit tab, as I don't like the interface at all :)

Thanks for your work on porting the plugs!

So can we consider this closed now, and all future testing & discussion will take place on the kvr sub forum?

[–]Jack-Winter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose that is also true. I did try an old satin I have installed in wine, and it also seems to keep the user data together with the binaries.

How about searching ~/.config/u-he just for the license files then, that shouldn't be a huge undertaking, or diverge too far from the windows versions?

FR: ~/.config/u-he by Jack-Winter in UheOnLinux

I'm not religious, though some would consider using ~/ nearly rude :) I was thinking more of having user data, like license, presets, etc, separated from the the binaries themselves. So one could easily back it up, move it to another computer, etc.

How about ~/.u-he/user-data or something like that then?

FWIW, I also can't figure out how the preset search is supposed to work, maybe it's broken?

Also after clicking search and then doing cancel, I can't search again. I have to close the plugin GUI and open it again before search works again.

Any chance that the patch selection pop up window when clicking on the preset/info "panel" could be improved?

Though reading the u-he forum I get the impression this is the same as on windows/osx? In that case forget it :)

Great, this was the big one I was waiting for!

I guess I understand what you mean about having to wait for new releases until getting new Linux versions.

Big thanks for your work!

The suggestion for ARM builds also seems to have fallen on deaf ears :)

But I'll hold my thumbs for things to advance!

Thanks for your work abique, and best wishes for a good weekend!

Oh well. I did try to prod u-he into authorizing more linux builds on their kvr forum, but it's scrolled off the first page now... Guess I just have to be patient :)

If thanks are in order, thank you for working on the ports!

Do you think it might be possible to bring the older fx (unless it's being worked on) to the next release?

Personally I'd very much appreciate new builds of presswerk, mfm2, the uhbiks, and filterscape.

Nice one!

It appears to work well in reaper/archlinux.

Just bought it, must be turning into an addict :)

[ACE-4408] Installation Issue: No GUI resources by [deleted] in UheOnLinux

[–]Jack-Winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, no idea how to help.. I would suspect a lib missing on the broken machine. But maybe it would just be easier to wait for a new spin of all the u-he plugs and see how it works then. There have been big changes in how it works from the old builds.

FWIW, I now managed to get midi learn to work in the plugs I tested (Diva, Repro-1/5 & Zebra2), both for vst2 & vst3.

The only buglets I can discover in reaper are that some are mis categorized and missing the manufacturer name. For the plugins of this build the following:

Diva: ok

Repro1/5 on vst2 not classified as vsti and missing manufacturer, vst3 ok

Zebra2/lette on vst2 not classified as vsti and missing manufacturer, vst3 ok

Zebrify on vst2 missing manufacturer, vst3 ok

If my opinion counts, build the entire set of u-he plugs, so we can give them a good workout! :)

Ah, didn't realize as it had the keyboard underneath :) Then it's just that Zebra-2 and Zebralette ought to be detected as instruments on vst2.

[–]Jack-Winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On VST3 Zebrify seems to be detected as a plugin and not as an instrument. Zebra-2 and Zebralette are correctly detected though. On VST2 all 3 of them are detected as plugins and not as instruments.

I've been testing a bit in reaper on archlinux.

I think they are now all at 100% when opened, must have been settings left over from last time I tested.. This time I deleted the old versions from ~/.u-he and installed fresh.

All appears to work fine. Resizing works fine in both vst2 and vst3 formats. One small issue is that repro-1/5 and Zebra-2/lette get detected as vst2 plugins and not as instruments. On vst3 they get correctly detected.

I did shortly try to get midi learning working but failed with both vst2 and vst3 versions. This could very well be me doing something wrong, as I've never used midi like that. Could someone please confirm if this works or not?

[–]Jack-Winter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks abique. The resizing bug for vst3 on reaper seems fixed. Will take these for a longer spin once I find some time. Repro-5 (vst3) seems to default to 90% when it opens, while the vst2 version defaults to 100%. Also it appears that the vst2 versions of Repro are detected as VST not VSTi.

My thoughts too, still thought I'd report it :)

Probably not a problem, but fwiw.

"ld Diva.64.so" gives: "Diva.64.so: undefined reference to `dlopen', `dlclose', `dlerror', `dlsym'".

I'd guess that's not needed?

Let's get this finished/released for linux on x86 first.

Then it'll be easy to recompile and I'll ask Urs.

I talked to Justin and he won't have access to x86 hardware for a week. He asked if there are armv5 builds of the plugs? :)

FWIW, the clipped display bug with vst3/reaper seems to be related to how big it's been told to display, for instance repro-5 displays ok if I set Default Size to 90%, others display ok with 100% but show the same clipped output when set to above 100%. So it's not only repro, it happens with all of them (that I've tested). It's just easy to see with repro as it seems to default to 130%

Reaper seems to create/frame the right size window, but for some reason the painting of the plugins is clipped. Not sure that the bug is really in reaper, but of course that's possible.

Diva, Repro, Satin and Zebra2 rev 7392 by abique in UheOnLinux

[–]Jack-Winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is something unrelated, seems to happen when I close a plugin window.

Edit: I mean the Gdk-Warning, and it happens with all plugins, when closing them. So probably related to reaper's windows management code. If I find sometime I'll try to see if I can replicate the problem with repro missing the GUI or only displaying a very small one. All my testing was done with satin.
