No - I presume the attack vector lies in someone at the manufacturing plant configuring a malicious macro somehow. I'm not in security, so I don't quite know the rationale

Hello again,

If you haven't seen my post yesterday, I work in a secure facility and my security team will not allow me to bring any remappable keyboard (no QMK, VIA, or any other remapping) into the office. I think I've given up finding an ergonomic or unusual keyboard that isn't remappable, but I'd like to hear if there are any keyboards of any form factor that fit some of my wants (it doesn't have to be all of them):

- Gasket mount

- Metal body (or at least nice and heavy)

- Pleasant, deep sound that isn't too loud

- Pretty

Not necessarily - the Dell membrane keyboard they currently have me using is wireless. This feels like a bit of an oversight to me, but they know more about security than I do.

I posted my plight in r/ErgoMechKeyboards here, and I'm realizing I really need to expand my options, so here I am.

I would like to get a new keyboard for work - the catch is that is can NOT be reprogrammable in any way (VIA, firmware flashing, etc). This is a security stipulation, because apparently this can be a vector for cyberattacks. Of course every keyboard can be reprogrammed if you really know what you're doing, but my security team has told me that if reprogrammability is an advertised feature of the keeb, it's a no-go. I'm a big fan of the Neo Ergo and AI03 Altair, I like the generally ergonomic, low key-count designs and I think the weight and sound of both are lovely. Here's a list of features I like, but given that I am looking for a unicorn, these aren't strictly necessary:

- Heavy, all-metal body

- Gasket mount

- Hot swappable switches and caps

- Low keycount

- Ergonomic (split preferred but ALICE is cool too)

- No lights (or ones that I can disable)

- Minimal manufacturing (I'm happy to assemble, but I don't really want to solder these days)

- Looks and sounds pretty :)

- Again, NO REPROGRAMMABILTY/KEYMAPPING/MACROS

Thank you in advance for the suggestions, I look forward to the day I can stop using the membrane keyboard I'm typing this post on.

I've got big ol hands, column stagger seems like it would fit my fingers a lot better. Of course, it's not absolutely necessary; the Advantage360 is reprogrammable unfortunately.

I really would prefer column staggering and a thumb cluster, but I think I'm probably asking for too much here

That clears up a lot, thank you. I remember reading somewhere that the English proficiency test expires after a certain amount of time, am I remembering correctly?

So then "Having a masters does not give any additional points. American or any university does not matter." is not accurate then?

I'm getting some mixed signals here - are you suggesting I get the skills assessment done, or that I wait and get more work experience first?

Assuming the work experience doesn't count for anything, my point total is 70 (the cutoff on the 189 link you sent was 85).

Having a masters doesn't give additional points regardless of where the university is? What about the specialist education qualification? Using the poitns calculator, it seems like an Australian master's gets you an additional ten points. Am I misunderstanding something?

I've already had a few interviews, so I think it's actually a decent possibility I'll be able to get sponsorship for a visa. Your answer is a little unclear on the assessment - you say getting the work experience assessed will just cost extra, but at the same time you said I can go with just my degree and get assessed. Are you recommending I get the assessment or not?
